‘non-toxic’ nail polish

I get my dd some that are child friendly, non-smelly and just requires being pulled off.

Are there any adult versions that last longer please? I found this on Amazon but not sure if it’s good enough.

NailKind - Nail Polish - California Lilac - Vegan And Cruelty Free - Quick-Drying - Gentle On Nails - Long Lasting - Glossy Nail Polish amazon.co.uk/dp/B08D6SS6NK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WBKY1573DD2DNXK9DK8B?psc=1]]

I’d like one that doesn’t smell strong and is environmentally friendly.

I second Zoya! Feels lovely and so many colours!

I developed a nail polish allergy in my 30s which caused my nail beds to weep and also for.my skin to get rashes where ever I touched and my eyes would react. I tried Zoya but still had reactions to on my skin and my nail beds tingled although didn't weeps.
I got a bottle of Manicurist plant based polish in a beauty box and tentatively tried it with no reaction. I then noticed that Superdrug stocks a few colours of NailKind and so tried it on my thumb nail and again no reaction. I don't think it smells at all except for the top coat but it's not as strong and seems to disappear more quickly. It doesn't seem to set as hard as regular nail polish but I can get about 4 days without chips now which is good for me.. My nails are gradually improving and this comes off easily with acetone free remover. The colour in the pic is Bubblegum.

They sell directly through their website with a discount code I think and Superdrug often has an offer but not all shades. I hope it works for you. I'm truly so happy to wear nail polish again after so long!

I saw a new Rimmel range in Superdrug today. Didn’t look too closely but it was ‘natural’, can’t seem to find a trace of it online though!

I'm really interested in this because I have what I assume is a nail polish/remover allergy. Every time I wear nail polish my nails start to separate from the nail beds, tips first. It's horrible and quite painful.

I'm not certain however if it's the polish or the remover that I'm reacting to. I've tried 'gentle' nail polish remover and still get the same issues. How are these new nail polishes removed?

Mercurial123 · 02/11/2021 11:16

This is the Rimmel polish mentioned

@cosmopolitanplease I still use a normal nail polish remover but it's a sensitive and acetone free formulation. Mine is definitely a polish allergy as I get it within hours of applying polish without having even a hint of remover being involved. I tried all the 5/3/4 free kinds without formaldehyde etc but it made no difference. I also react really badly to gel polishes.
There are some kinds you can remove with soaap and water apparently . The brand I've heard of is SunKind but I've not tried it. My daughter had some of the kids peel/soak off water based polish and it was both gloomy and poor coverage.
