Eye wrinkles :(

I'm 42 and look young for my age. EXCEPT my eye wrinkles which, when I smile, are horrendous. Besides botox (which I'm seriously considering saving up for) can anyone recommend anything to minimise the lines? I know I sound vain and superficial but I'm seriously miserable every time I look in the mirror. I use Nivea eye cream at the mo, which got good reviews but is shit.

I don't think Botox works on eye wrinkles once they have truly formed- the lines just migrate under the eyes
Valmont or biologique recherche eye creams are magic but won't erase the lines totally

I'm (42 yo) using Nuxe Prodigieuse eye cream at the moment, it hydrates nicely and goes on like a dream. I can't say it will get rid of your wrinkles (I don't think anything will) but it leaves my skin nice and soft and make up applies well on top. I use to use Estee Lauder advanced eye repair when I was younger and I loved it haven't used it in years but I did love it. Don't get botox, it looks weird imo.

I would pay money beyond measure for something that would sort out my fine under eye lines! Face fine everywhere else!

I’m not an expert and I’m sure some will be along as above with better suggestions.

From my knowledge and experience the best way to improve the appearance/prevent wrinkles is hydration. I use retinol 3-4 times a week (this has been proven to help minimise the appearance of wrinkles but should be used carefully around the eyes). But other than that I use a very very thick moisturiser (Nivea creme) and then Vaseline on top of that to trap the moisture in. I’ve been doing that for about a year now and honestly my skin has never looked better, even when I was using £50 creams. Worth a try!

But I think the only way to actually eliminate wrinkles once they’ve appeared is filler/Botox. Though I’m sure you look absolutely brilliant and a lot better than you think you do.

My under eye skin is very dry, and I often have problems with it. I'm very careful about what eye creams and make up I use around my eyes. If I sleep in my make up it causes all sorts of problems but so far the Nuxe have worked out well and I'm finding Lancome teint idole foundation has caused zero reaction (even if I sleep without cleansing). Also duel phased eye make up removers are a big no. I use a cream cleanser (remove with damp cotton wool) than a good brand of Micellar water to finish off.
