Skin and Hair care tips after brain tumour

I was wondering if anyone has any tips for bringing a bit of life back to my brittle hair and tired skin following a brain tumour?

My hair is patchy with regrowth at different lengths, this is hidden quite well with the top layer of my hair but I have fluffy bits sticking out at different lengths and the longer hair is very brittle at the ends.

If anyone can recommend supplements or products that are worth trying?

The skin on my face feels grey and lined and is quite dry, does anyone have experience of good products to help the appearance of skin?

I can't comment on the brain tumor friendly part but here are some of my favourite things.

Centrum multivitamin supplement. I take it all winter every year. Then if I feel run down I add in the soluble vitamin C + zinc tablets, any brand will do.

Drink lots of stuff that isn't fizzy and doesn't contain any caffeine. So fruit juice, squash juice, herbal tea, water etc for hydration. Avoid alcohol. I believe all the "bad" things are dehydrating.

Vichy Mineral 89 serum daytime and Estée Lauder Night Recovery Complex serum nights.

Face oil next, currently using Garnier Organics Hemp Oil, love it.

Simple moisturizer doesn't irritate the skin and they also have a SPF 30 moisturizer which I put over the top of a plain one.

Currently using Clarins SoS Primer in pink (the anti fatigue one) which adds a pinky sparkle to my skin.

Followed by Maybelline Dream Radiant Liquid foundation with hyaluronic acid and collagen, which I think should be relabelled "hyaluronic acid serum with a tint". It doesn't sit in lines, is very sheer and doesn't feel like you're wearing foundation.

I use a pale silvery pink eye shadow on my kids to brighten them and mascara to open up my eyes (my glasses tend to make them look small) and finish with nude lipstick.

You sound like you might need to add some blush too, I believe cream is less likely to settle into lines than powder but have never tried it. It's possible to put on only the tiniest amount of blush so it's not noticeable you're wearing any, it's just you suddenly look healthier once it's on.

Olive oil for an intensive hair moisturizer and a haircut for the brittle ends. It's hat weather so I wouldn't worry about the patchy situation. My hair is mostly braided and covered with something all winter. I like hooded cardigans, and berets too and since they're part of the outfit you don't take them off indoors, could that be an option for you?

Hi op @gateacre1 I didn't want to read and run...

I used to volunteer for look good feel better:

lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk/support/women/

Might be worth having a look at their website.

You might find youve more sensitive skin now, so what you used to use might make you flair up/break out. You might need to get some samples (try beauty counters or some companies send out) and patch test on your inner wrist for 24 hrs.

Avoid things with retinol. I'd suggest staying organic (try Green People or Love Lula, or Burt's Bees). You don't want to overload your skin but focus on hydration as the wintery air can be so drying and all the central heating going on also.

Hair care wise you could try Aveda. I like using John Frieda Secret Agent on my frizzy ends, also I like Hair Food (I think that's Garnier). I have fine fly aways that like to escape so taming them is my life's work.

Also think about switching to a silk pillowcase (£30 online) It sounds extravagant but its good for the skin (I started using one when my acne was bad)

Avon have a range called distillery, which is vegan, fragrance and colour free. They specifically sell a cancer care pack for £20 which has scalp balm as part of the set - 100% of the profits from this set go to cancer charities as well.

Thank you all for your replies, I think the blush is a great idea and I will have a look at all of the recommendations.
I’ve been to the health food shop and got some supplements to help too. Best wishes all x
