Dresses for breastfeeding

Hoping someone on here might have come across some good button-down dresses that could be useful for breastfeeding.

I do have a couple of combined pregnancy/nursing ones from Seraphine but I’m a bit bored with the maternity selection and am looking forward to having a broader range of choice again.

At the moment, I’m living mostly in jumper dresses which were cut loose enough that they still (just about) fit at 36 weeks. But they’re not going to be any good for feeding, esp out in public.

Ideally I’m looking for something about knee length to wear with tights in the winter. Cut fairly loose to hide post birth lumps and bumps. But not too bulky - I’m fairly small & find lots of things eg from Toast tend to drown me.

And not super expensive because I expect it’ll just get covered with baby sick…

The red Hush dress is nice but I would never have managed to feed in it - I think your first instinct is right that the buttons don’t go low enough

I have been breastfeeding for over two years now and have found that a nursing vest plus a normal T-shirt or jumper has worked the best. I feel too cold and exposed in something with a button front and also don’t think I could have managed to undo the buttons while holding a baby!

H and m have excellent nursing vests. I have about ten and wear one every day without a bra.

I'm breastfeeding at the moment and have just bought something very similar to that Hush dress from Fat Face (also £25 cheaper Grin). I haven't tried feeding in it yet but hopefully the buttons will come down far enough.
I know what pp mean about feeling exposed in shirts, and would really recommend getting a couple of B Shirt nursing vests to wear under your normal clothes. They're the best thing I've bought while breastfeeding. Because the flap bit lifts up rather than down like other nursing vests they provide more coverage under a shirt and I feel quite comfortable and discrete. I've also got a couple of their long sleeved T-shirts which are great under dungarees.

The problem with buttons is doing them up one handed afterwards. Worked fine when out with OH as would just hand the baby over after a feed, but a bit of a nightmare when on my own.

I also recommend the nursing vests for h and m. They come in a pack of two. I wore at night also. And as it will be winter you can just wear with cardigan for ease.

Another vote for H&M nursing vests, even though it's not what you asked Grin you'll definitely be glad of keeping your tummy covered when you're feeding in winter!

Just in case this helps, I use loose v-neck/scoop-neck jumpers over a top, where I kind of gather the top up, to come high enough so that the hem is revealed at the jumper's neckline, allowing my breast to peep through above the jumper with the top still giving some discretion around my neckline/chest, if that makes sense? Can also be done with two tops instead of jumper.

Just thought I'd put my two pennies worth, after the useful comments above about a buttoned top or dress being too revealing, which I also find to be the case.

I'd recommend wearing these h&m vests under a button down dress/ shirt/ jumper. Been a couple of years since I breastfed but this was always my go to, almost like a uniform Grin

Joe Browns have lovely wrap dresses that work for me. I've just had a look and there aren't that many at the moment, but here are some options: www.joebrowns.co.uk/womens-clothing/womens-dresses/wrapdresses

Looks like I’m getting some H&M vests then!!
