Can anyone give me an idea of the age of this ring?

It’s peridot, 9ct. Bought very cheaply second hand. I wondered if it was old or not. Thanks!

One final picture - this is as clear as I can get it. It’s kind of a blob, could be crown or a head? It’s very worn off.

The shape of the "box" round the hallmark is important for identification too. You can see that the cupcake/head has a pointy bit at the bottom but the letter one doesn't and is just sort of square..

Not that it helps much 😂

Your best bet is to take it into a jeweller and ask TBH. I spent ages trying to decipher the one on my mum's wedding ring with the help of MN. It's far less worn than yours and asa far as I can work out is 1915 (and thus was second hand!). This would imply that yours is older.

Yes @SoupDragon the ‘cupcake’ has a little nobble at the bottom whereas the others are straight.

I think the cupcake is a duty mark

I would say from style of setting 70s or 80s
I’m not sure what year 375 came in for hallmarks but all my older jewellery is marked 9, 18 or 22 not 375, 750 - I don’t have any modern 22 carat so 91%???

Hopeisallineed · 21/10/2021 22:26

I don’t think it’s old, 80s sounds about right.

SoupDragon · 21/10/2021 22:34

If the cupcake is a crown, together with the 375 it seems to mean it was hallmarked between 1974 and 1998.
