Any recommendations? Also how often to change them? Daily?

Daily yes but is the dr treating you for the acne?

I use washable wipes, they're smaller than normal flannels, got them from a cloth nappy company. Fleece on one side, nice and gentle, towelling on the other, a bit scrubbier. Use once and wash.

It's not for me it's for dd1 who is 11. I think we are on the verge of needing the gp

I'd get a few cheapish muslins or flannels, and change daily. Get white ones, if she's going to be using spot creams, as some of them can be a bit bleaching! also it is a good way of making making sure that all makeup has been washed off.

Obviously this won't cause or cure acne, but it will help a bit.

Ask your GP to prescribe Lymecycline it worked fantastically well for DD. They gave her acnecide as a topical cream.
DD uses Cerave SA as a face wash with normal bog standard flannels with a fresh one daily.

Is that meds? We are using acnecide already the 5%. I moved her to effeclar cream which I thought was really working but we had a bad flare and I got scared and went back to acnecide. I think because it's got peroxide in it it reduces the look of it

My DS's spots cleared up lots with Nip and Fab face wash (pink bottle for teen skin). Bit soap adverse and now he's actually using it, it is working fab. He refuses to use spot cream!
Younger DD uses the Roche Possay efflacar set and it's keeping the spots at bay. She uses a little sponge thing.

It really is just a bacterial skin infection that needs antibiotics like any other infection.

If you hit it hard and fast her skins young enough to heal without scars.

I didn’t & I've scarred.

I get white flannels from Sainsburys, £1. Not as thick as some so quicker to dry.

I would be wary of using a flannel to be honest (ex teen skincare consultant for Clinique here)! Flannels tend to exfoliate the skin quite harshly and can irritate it if it’s already inflamed. I would go for a gentle anti bacterial face wash with a mild exfoliating property (Garnier do some good ones) or if the skin is really sore / inflamed I would actually go for a cream based cleaner like Superdrug’s hot cloth one or the Liz Earle range with a Muslin cloth which is less abrasive than a normal flannel. You could even omit the cloth completely.

Medication is probably the biggest game changer though. My dd had horrendous acne and tried all the treatments mentioned above. None of them did any good for her at all so in the end she went on Roaccutane (aged 15/16) and it worked wonders for her. She was monitored very closely and had regular blood checks and the dose was increased very slowly. She had hardly any side effects (despite the scary stories in the media!) and says it was the best thing she ever did. She’s 18 now and has clear skin.

Norwex body cloths. They’re microfibre and amazing. Got rid of my spots but I’m in my 40s so no experience with teenage acne. The rep said they worked well on her skin. They literally wip all the grease off your face. I avoid all products. Sun cream and face cream all give me spots so I avoid as much as possible and definitely in the winter months.
