Can I wear coated jeans to DD’s graduation?

The leather look ones. With a blazer and heeled boots?
It’s an early morning graduation, in November.

I also have a dress I could wear with tights, but I always feel wrong in a dress. Would wear it if the jeans are a big no no though!

The dress is lovely, and I think more appropriate.

People wear all sorts at graduation events and lots of different cultures so lots of different styles. I would say blue jeans are a no go but smart black jeans teamed up with a smart top, blazer and heels would be fine at my university. Most people will be looking at the graduands anyway.

I love the original plan outfit

I too think the dress you’ve linked to is lovely. (But the trouser would be fine if the dress isn’t right)

I hope you have a fab day, it’s a lovely celebration.

It’s a no from me.

I really like the dress! 👍

I wore a dress to one, felt wrong all day and my feet were killing me. I'd have been fine in your coated jeans outfit, and kind of wish I'd gone with something like it. I can't even remember what I wore to the next one, so it was obviously something more me. Honestly, some people looked like they were off to a garden party at the Palace, others like they'd wandered in half way through hiking the Pennine way.

You would've looked out of place in leggings at my graduation. Everyone looked like they were going to a wedding, it was very formal.

You can wear whatever you like and feel comfy in - the dress is lovely but the other outfit looked nice too. In November there’s likely to be a lot of standing around in the cold, dress with that in mind. (I’ve been to loads of graduations as I work in a university), I spend a lot of time feeling sorry for graduates who’ve chosen bodycon dresses with short sleeves, no tights, and strappy high heeled sandals. They look lovely but freezing and the walk across the stage is always risky.
