Does anyone have recommendations for a waterproof rucksack?

Hello!

I recently got my first 9-5 office based job and need a new rucksack. Before this role I worked in ICU and had an old eastpak rucksack that had my uniform and lunch shoved into and did just fine. Now I’m wearing my own clothes and finishing earlier I sometimes meet people after work and would like something a little smarter. It would also need to be waterproof as I can no longer drive to work and have to stand around waiting for buses. It would need to fit a laptop and a small lunch bag in, would preferably have a small compartment for pocket for wallet/pens/Id badge etc. I’m not a fan of big patterns (no cath kidston.) I would prefer to spend up to £75 but could possibly go higher if it was perfect.

Anyone found a great rucksack or brand they can recommend?

Dakine is great.. you were spoilt with an eastpak as they are really well made, so tbh you could do worse than get a new one

Thanks so much they look great, I’m thinking vintage blue but also quite like garnet shadow

I love my ROKA London rucksack. I have one of the ones made of recycled bottles. I've never tried it in a downpour yet but it's definitely fine in light rain at least.

Yes the colour range isn’t bad it is. My dd has one for her schoolbag. It it taking a serious beating.

The slim Rains rucksack seems to be the go to for this round my way.

Another vote for Roka, love mine

Rains ! Available at John Lewis

Unless a rucksack is guaranteed waterproof, your best bet is to line it with a plastic bag!

I work in London in an office job and my rucksack isn't waterproof. It isn't that much of an issue. The umbrella you use does cover the back of some if it and you can line it with a bag.

I have this in another colour. Looks very stylish. If you've not shopped there before I think you can sign up and get 15-20% off first order

I've got the same Sweaty Betty one as Alice, but I really dislike it, not because it isn't waterproof but because the pockets and zip placement just don't work for me. I wish I hadn't bought it, although it does look great.

The Rains ones look nice, although I haven't seen them in the flesh.

Try Cabin Zero. I use them for foreign travel but they do smaller sizes and quite often have sales and other discounts.

In which case Google vintage blue waterproof ruck sacks 🙃

So many good recommendations. The rains ones look very good as well but I’ve gone with a Roka- I’ll let you know how it is when I get it! I did go with blue, just can’t help myself 😂
