How strange that I had the exact same thought today while I was ironing DD's mountainous wardrobe! Not only that - I was looking at DD today and realised that she looks so much better in her clothes than I do as she's more of a standard size and everything just seems to fit her well.

she's a right funky dude whereas as mummy...well...it's not good!

Yes - & it's daft really

She is drop dead gorgeous and I am about a 5 or a 6 on a good day

She would look fab in a potato sack & I really need all the help I can get - so I should spend money on my clothes not hers

lojomamma · 09/12/2007 01:46

For sure, I thought the same as I TOOK dd to the hair dressers for a cut and blow dry, whilst I have a lady come to my house once every 3 months. BTW dd is 13.

expatinscotland · 09/12/2007 01:55

DD1 is over 4 ft. tall and slim and long at the age of 4.5. with legs like a filly.

she has chesnut hair with blond streaks that hangs past the middle of her back, green eyes with no hazel and skin the colour of a lilly.

i go to no end making sure she and her sister are turned out - almost all their clothes come from doting grandparents in the US.

matching tights and socks with hair baubles to coordinate.

DD1 gets hang nails, so i rub olive oil into both girls' cuticles every night.

and they both use electric toothbrushes because good teeth are crucial.

DD1 gets her hair trimmed every six weeks in a local salon (k, it's only £10) because she is prone to split ends. she's allergic to SLS, so she uses shampoo and conditioner from Napier's teh Chemist.

years ago, i bought a Mason Pearson hairbrush in Bath.

but that's not my brush anymore.

i, on the other hand . . .

it's lucky i'm fairly slim naturally, because i go around in fleece and hiking boots with my greying hair scraped into a ponytail most of the time.

DD is 13, and has the most exquisite taste in clothes, she can mix and match with the best of them, I swear she is up there with Kate Moss et al. She is 4'10" and longs to be as tall as her best mate who is 6' (quite bizarre to see them together especially as the other girl is 12) it is unlikely she will be tall especially as dh mam is 4'10 and has been since mil was 12 years old.
She is a slim size 4. Whilst I am a size 16.
She has baby blue eyes and chestnut brown mid to loose curly hair, which comes to her shoulders and gains lovely pale naturally high lights in the summer. Very high cheekbones and the most beautiful arched eyebrows and (so far, please god it continues) she has lovely clear alabaster skin, not a spot in sight. Tonight we went to a friends party and she and her brother were invited, 7 people asked me if she modeled. Hah, she would hate that even if she wasn't miles to short.
Gosh the thought of boyfriends in the future scares the bejesus out of me, hopefully it will be a while as she is very immature.
The funniest (not) thing is dsis gave her a freebie Molton Brown lip balm, and she saves up her pocket money to buy it now.

Yes, my daughter often has a better wardrobe than me because at 3 she grows out of her clothes at such a rate that everything is always new and up to date...

KaySamuels · 09/12/2007 09:21

My ds has a lovely wardobe, and extensive collection of shoes, I make sure his hair is nicely brushed, etc. I have holes in my shoes (no Really), clothes that have seen better days and often get back from the school run and realise I haven't brushed my hair!

completely
DD was 3 on Friday and is gorgeous, I often find myself buying things for her simply because it fulfills my clothes shopping need and everything looks shit on me so why bother?
DS only 9 months but has nice clothes

although I must point out they get a lot, most in fact, of their clothes secondhand/from ebay or the NZ equivalent. BUt I do splash out sometimes for DD int he Boden sale and have it sent all the way to NZ

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 09/12/2007 09:54

Absolutely, but mainly because most of the things I buy for myself, end up in her wardrobe! She's far too gorgeous and blonde for her own good too, my clothes look better on her!

coldtits · 09/12/2007 09:57

Completely. But why wouldn't they? They look perfect in everything they wear, inch for inch their clothes are cheaper than mine ... isn't this why I had children? Because I am too old to play with fashion dollies?

MrsBadger · 09/12/2007 10:20

Anna is right - they grow out of clothes so fast they get much more new (or at least newly-chosen) stuff than we do.

Also no doting aunts ever knit me retro 1950s jackets with pixie hoods...

AllieBeHomeForChristmas · 09/12/2007 10:23

yes, but they are both thinner than me..

castille · 09/12/2007 10:31

yes, they are all much better turned out than me and have far more nice clothes! I find it so much easier shopping for them, I'm hopeless at browsing for things for me so usually end up buying children's clothes instead.

Lucky them

LoveAngelGabriel · 09/12/2007 19:28

Without a doubt. MY DH works in the USA and Far East a lot and always comes back armed with bundles of lovely (cheap!) designer gear for our son. I, on the other hand, am left sniffing around Primark and New Look for a few rags!

Hulababy · 09/12/2007 19:29

DD definitely does!

tassisssss · 09/12/2007 19:32

my dd certianly does

think she could wear a different lovely outfit every day for a fortnight and stll have stuff to choose from

lojomamma · 09/12/2007 20:13

I read out loud to dd, what I had written about her on here and she asked if it was an ebay advert and was I planning on selling her. So can I add that she has a good sense of humor too.

janeite · 09/12/2007 20:28

DD1 is 12, 5 foot 6 and now able to put her chin on top of my head and say "Ahhh aren't you little and cute mummy?" Grrrr! She has the most amazing long legs, beautiful wavy hair and big green eyes. I look at her sometimes and think she must be a changeling, as she is so much more beautiful than dp or I. However, her wardrobe is just about like mine was as a student in the late 80s - tiny shorts with opaques and bovver boots; skater skirts with opaques and bovver boots and all black or purple! So I know she must be mine really!

DD2 is 10, gorgeous and elfin, with a pixie cut and enormous blue eyes - she would spend all day, every day in her PJs if she could get away with it, so currently my wardrobe is actually better than hers! DD1 despairs of her! In fact, I need to take her shopping but she hates it, whereas dd2 would trail around the shops for hours, try everything on and then come back and recreate the things she liked best out of something old from the charity shop and the contents of her sewing "bits box" !!!!

shreddies · 09/12/2007 20:31

Oh yes, I love dressing DS. He's like a little stripey dolly.

Countingthegreyhairs · 10/12/2007 14:08

Oh yes! Drag myself out the door for some retail therapy intending to buy myself a much-needed pair of trousers or a top ... and inevitably come back with one (or three) items for dd.

She's 4.5 too. Huge blue/grey eyes. Skin like a peach. Looks as though she's fed exlusively on royal jelly. Dressing her is one of my greatest pleasures .... sigh ....

I just don't look in the mirror anymore.

janeite · 10/12/2007 18:43

Lol at "fed on royal jelly"!!

Sounds like lots of us need to ignore the dds' wardrobes for a while and take ourselves shopping instead!

slayerette · 10/12/2007 18:53

Better wardrobe. Better social life. He's going to more Christmas parties than I am!
