My gorgeous dd is 14 and is a size (from the rough measuring she let me do) 30E bra size. She will only wear jersey crop tops because she thinks it makes her boobs look smaller.

She has been complaining of back ache and although that's prob down to heavy school rucksack, I'm worried about the lack of support on her chest and wondered if no bra was making it worse. She's rounding her shoulders and she just told me she hates her boobs so much Sad

My DD was the same. She was a 28FF from 13. It took a while to get her to Bravissimo. We went via Debenhams, who I have to say were great, but their range limited. Then we went to Boux Avenue, which was good as she saw them as "young" and trendy, and they did actually have a good range of plain, moulded bras, which fitted OK, but were terrible quality and didn't last. Finally got her to Bravissimo at 15ish, and the game changed. They have such a wide range, and give you time, which is lovely. She tried on so many bras, and found a style and shape that she was happy with. It helped that her fitter was really young, tiny, with massive boobs - like her.

She has actually now reduced in size, as she has lost some of that teenage excess "plump" hate that word, but you know what I mean. She is now leaner, and therefore down to a 28DD.

If she's a size 6 there's no way she has a 30 inch chest - that's about size 10-12.

I’d don’t think it is that far off. I am a size six and although most of my bras are 28, I have one 30 and it fits.

I was 7 stone from age 11 upwards (so size 6-8 etc) and bras with 28/30 backs weren't made then (80s) so I had to have I think 32 inch bands which were too big really but had to do.

Agreed with this. Never found my bras for Boux Avenue lasted.

Also re styles of bras - I do best in a balconette or demi balconette - but on going to a local lingerie shop got 2 bras (one cornflower blue and one black with ecru lace) - both weren't balconette and the black was moulded and more t-shirt style. Also in another lingerie shop I had similar experience with different styles. Sometimes you don't want balconette etc.

You can often get good bras online too at Brastop or other websites.

I used sports bras. But do go to Bravissimo and let her have some fun (a little pricey.... but the cost of big boobs.... unfortunately).

I say these because my friends all had Triumph neon coloured bras and I was really sad I couldn't even consider such a thing. So she may actually choose something pretty instead Smile

You don’t need to be 7 stone to be a size six these days.

I'm sure you don't!

@Mymapuddlington

Oh bless her, I was a g cup by the time I left school it’s awful. I would say supportive sports bras after getting her measured. I still want a breast reduction (34HH) and I always feel big and judged even though I just wear t shirt and jeans. Best of luck Flowers
I had one 7 years ago and it's honestly the best thing I ever did!
ZZGirl · 12/10/2021 19:07

Additionally, although Ann Summers, they have a £15 range in a variety of colours that I swear by. They go all the way to H cup. You could buy online

Gandalfsthong · 12/10/2021 19:44

I really sympathise with your daughter, I’m the same size and have been since I was 16. I was terribly self conscious, and also stopped dance and sport because I was so self conscious as previous posters have said. I also have a small frame and got/get terrible neck and backache (now 43). For me getting a proper fitting bra was an absolute game changer, and makes me feel so much more comfortable. I used to hate getting measured too (especially in M&S). I like Freya and Wacoal bras as they are comfy and also feminine. For sports I’d recommend berlei, funky colours and great support. Good luck!

Fluffmum · 12/10/2021 20:19

Buy panache bras. They are the best for big boobs and my daughter and I only wear their bras.

Bananaman123 · 12/10/2021 20:28

I'm a 42h and wanted some non wired for wearing in house. these are brilliant! They have nonwired and wired, good support too.

Bananaman123 · 12/10/2021 20:28

Also Elomi bras are amazing

whatsnext2 · 12/10/2021 20:39

Me and DD both same (I had breast reduction in end) After breastfeeding when stayed 34 H.

Just be careful was told not to use underwired on developing breasts.

I have always found under wired uncomfortable after several hours.

Rollintodarkness · 12/10/2021 21:44

Try molke, they are kind of like croptops but have the support of a bra.

JessieLongleg · 13/10/2021 03:34

I remember that age wasnt easy but yes a proper bra and explaning that not all bras are push up. Lots of styles and some are more natural with more support than crop.

MamaNorth · 13/10/2021 09:36

The other thing to try is the bravissimo vest with bras inbuilt. They are a bit hit and miss but make summer so much easier.

I have about six, they are also on eBay sometimes.

grey12 · 13/10/2021 10:33

Btw, I have the Satine bra from Bravissimo. If your daughter wears white shirt/tshirt it's perfect! You can see it at all!!!! The sheen makes such a difference! It was an absolute find! And it's not too thin so it won't show the nipples through.....

Babyiskickingmyribs · 13/10/2021 15:55

I have a small back size and large cup and have done since your daughter’s age. I was very embarrassed about the size of my breasts for a long time. It improved when I realized that lots of girls and women need size D+ and it doesn’t necessarily mean your breasts are comically huge. At her age I wanted some boring black and white bras with no lace. I didn’t want cleavage but I did want support and to stop bouncing. I’d recommend some good sports bras for school (the panache ones are excellent) especially for PE days. When I discovered Freya bras in my late teens I finally had access to fun, young bras with prints and colour but not lace and not alway overtly sexy looking. Cleo are also good but I never got on with the shapes - your daughter might though. Bravissimo sell both and you go and try on without having them checked by the fitter if you want - or you get the fitter to check with a t shirt or vest too over the top of the bra. I had to learn to dress myself to suit my figure without drawing unwanted attention to my boobs. It took a bit of trial and error. V necks are good. Button up shirts work if they are silky and flowy and have enough room to not gape - I also regularly just sew the two sides of the shirt shut over the boobs.
