Contact lenses home trial

I really want to try contact lenses but the last time I had a try in the opticians I couldn't get them out of my eyes and felt very panicky as I felt everyone was watching!!!
Does anyone know of any companies that offer a home trial?

I felt like that the first time, the next time I got my prescription I asked for the trial lenses and said i’m fine doing it at home.

They can’t force you to try it in the store.

Or you can get your prescription off them and order them online, i’m sure most opticions let you order trial ones.

Maybe you need to find a different opticians. The opticians I used for my first trial didn't explain things very well and the area I was in was a little open and public. I felt as you did and the optician had to remove one of the lenses for me. I tried a different opticians, better explanations and a private area to try getting them in and out. That was much better and I've been using them ever since.

Yes, go somewhere else. I couldn’t get them out myself at the first place I tried (big chain), and they made me come back for a second ‘teach’ session. Same thing happened the second time and I told them I had changed my mind as I couldn’t face having my eyes poked about for a third consecutive day. About a month later I tried elsewhere (another chain), and they were great. Let me practice in a private area (but also told me some simple tips that made it all easier anyway) and also reassured me that if I took them away and got really stuck, I could pop into any branch and someone would be able to get them out - and that it wouldn’t hurt as a one-off if I was forced to leave them overnight. All that was so reassuring that it gave me confidence and I never looked back. Have been wearing them for years without incident now.

Aww maybe I need to try a different opticians then, I just think I would be more relaxed trying them at home, I have no problem touching my eye usually but it was like my eyes went into panic mode and I couldn't get them out it was so strange!!
