Olaplex - salon or home treatment?

I went to a new salon (highly recommended) with my limp, lifeless, 'not looking great cos I'm aging' hair yesterday and had a trim and an Olaplex treatment.

The stylist has recommended that I have another treatment and another trim before even thinking about doing something with the colour as my hair is in very poor condition and breaking (I agree).

I can see online that I can buy the Olaplex treatments and do them myself for less money.

So my question is, is the salon version different and if I can afford it, will I see more benefit?

I don't spend much on beauty treatments, clothes or prosecco so I don't mind treating myself to this if it's going to be better than the home version. Grin

TIA

You can buy a whole bottle of Olaplex in lots of places online for the price they’ll charge you in a salon, I get mine from Cult Beauty, they often have deals on for first orders.

I’d buy your own 😊

The salon version is more intense. It includes a bond builder in with the bleach or colour that your stylist uses to preserve the hairs bonds as well as a treatment on the hair post bleaching.

0 and 3 are the at home equivalents of this process (0 used as a pre wash treatment instead).

As you say your hair is in poor condition I would do the salon treatment to help keep the hair strong during the colouring and then also get a small olaplex kit (they do one with travel sizes) to use at home and keep up the treatment.

Thank you for the replies. I quite enjoyed the hour in the salon yesterday so I'll take your advise applepineapple Smile

I use the number 3 home treatment but you need the salon treatment to start it. There's some science or something that the salon treatment bonds it or something so if you've not had it the home treatment isn't effective

And just to add, the number 3 will definitely sort your awful hair out. Mine was breaking off underneath when I started it and within 6 months my hair was stronger and longer and in great condition. I tend to wet my hair at night and leave it in overnight then wash it out the next day

I use the boots version of olaplex and notice no difference to the olaplex at home number 3, other than the price tag. It works really well on my hair. I’ve never had a salon treatment though so cannot compare.

I do the salon treatment (Olaplex 2) at home. Wash hair with shampoo, blot hair dry, apply Olaplex, put on shower cap, leave for an hour +, wash out, condition. Works fine without having used Olaplex 1 first.
