Does anyone have very pale coloured leather shoes, and if so are they easy to keep clean?

As per title, I'm considering some very pale pink leather boots for winter and wondering if I'm out of my mind. They have a fat black chunky platform, so some protection from that, and not much by way of stitching and crannies to gather dirt, but they'd obv get splashed/rained on etc.

I've never had very light coloured real leather shoes before. Is it unrealistic to think I'd be able to clean them to keep them looking acceptably nice?

Hopeful bump...

I have pale pink leather shoes. It's not so much that they get dirty but that they get black scuff marks where the big toe joint is, presumably when I catch the two shoes together. I haven't found anything that can shift them

Thanks for responding @TrainforSpeed
Does the mark ruin the shoes for you?
Trying to decide between sensible black, and gorgeous but potentially impractical powder pink. I intend to wear them a lot...

I'm not generally very fussy over these things so I still wear them but it is quite noticeable.

Your boots do sound lovely

@TrainforSpeed try a little bit of nail polish remover on cotton wool

I've wondered this. I bought some very pale peach brogues on ebay so I don't feel as bad if they don't last as long.

The other thing is...when they look too worn they can be dyed black or dark brown.

Those sound awesome Misty
Argh - it's so hard to decide ConfusedBlushGrin

I had some pale yellow brogues which just looked a tatty state. Scuff marks and nail varnish remover faded the leather.

Use protector spray before you wear them eg Kiwi Rain and Stain Shoe Protector. See if you can get shoe polish the same shade - The Shoe Doctor is a good place to look.
If you're going to be wearing them a lot I guess you could start with pink boots and then dye them a darker colour if they did get too tatty.

BasiliskStare · 07/10/2021 04:18

@BewareTheBeardedDragon I would not buy them hoping to dye ( but if the Shoe doctor does a decent match that is a very good shout ) What I would do as per @urbanbuddha is spray them with protective spray & then get the best shoe polish you can ( if pink you may have to settle for clear unless The Shoe Doctor works out )

I think in all honesty it depends on price and budget. If you love the pink - do it. & possibly just possibly need to replaced a bit sooner but taken care of I am sure they will be fine. The practical suggestion would be black , but if the pink boots give you joy - I would do that. But what do I know Grin
