dry itchy small patch on scalp

I have a small dry patch on my scalp - maybe half or 1 inch if that - if I scratch/pick off the scab then it scabs over.

Thing is - it's only one very small area, I don't have dandruff or a dry flaky scalp in general (I had this years ago in my 20's so I know what it's like) - however, haven't been using the best shampoos recently...

What can I do? What helps?

Does it weep at all? And, a bit gross, but if you rub that patch with your fingers, and smell them, does it smell?

Gonnagetgoing · 04/10/2021 13:59

No to weeping and no smell either!

Can’t work out how it’s suddenly appeared!

I get this from time to time. I use Neutrogena TGel shampoo and after a few weeks of using it it goes away

It's something I get once every few years or so, no idea what causes it!

Peggytheredhen · 04/10/2021 14:40

I get this too. No idea why, and asked GP who wasn't concerned but recommended a shampoo. I can't remember which, sorry!

Could be psoriasis. I’d recommend T-gel and a trip to the GP if that doesn’t help. Topical steroids will sort it but try the shampoo first.

I would be very surprised if it is psoriasis but will try T-gel first and GP if that doesn't help.

I'm relieved that it's not just me and @freesolo too.
