Swim change - help!

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 02/10/2021 15:56

I've joined a gym and can take my DC swimming with me. The changing rooms however have no cubicles.

Now, I am not blessed with an attractive body I'm happy to show others, so am trying to think of a way to get me and my child dry and retain some modesty.

Does anyone have any ideas please?!

I used to take a towelling dressing gown. Easy enough to put over your shoulders, remove your costume and then out the robe on properly and then, by the time you've dried and dressed your child, you're dry and can get dressed with minimal flesh on show.

Lots of people will tell you not to worry/no one is looking/no one cares but if you care that's what matters. I found a robe gave me confidence so that, when facing the wall/locker I felt some level of privacy.

I promise every one else is just focused on getting changed as quickly as you are and not looking around.

When I take DS, I strip him off, wrap him in a towel and then he eats a banana while I quickly dress, then I sort him.

If you just take a big baggy hoodie, you can throw that on without worrying about a bra or layers etc?

Poncho towels are good. I tend to pop one on child take off their swimsuit then they get a snack whilst I get dressed. Do not get them dressed first as they will leg it as bored of waiting for Mummy. Can manage Jeans and bra on then it’s just a flash of bare back and dressed. Go with your costume under your clothes and put underwear in the swim bag.

Get a changing robe, they're everywhere at the moment

I have a microfibre changing robe - mines a Toncho. You can just pull it on over your wet swimming costume and then slip out of your cossie underneath and pop a towel turban on your head. Then deal with DC and by the time they are sorted you will be dry and can then get dressed underneath it.
Or if you drive there and back, just get a thicker change robe and just wear that to and from swimming and save time and faff

We use these ... great quality, thin so dry quickly and very absorbent.

Brilliant - thank you so much! A dry/change robe looks ideal.

Dock and bay do a poncho now. They fold really small and would protect your modesty. X

These changing towels are good. Worth getting decent quality - they’re really useful for swimming/beach holidays and as a general cover up, if a bit cold on the beach! I agree with previous poster about just throwing one on over swimsuit to save changing!
