Sweaty Betty - Worth the money?

girlmom21 · 02/10/2021 10:49

I didn't really know whether to post this in style or exercise, but can people please let me know if they think Sweaty Betty exercise clothing is worth the money?

They're outside of my budget really, but they're something I'll consider buying a couple of items of if they're really genuinely good quality - ie leggings that don't fall down, aren't see-through, can be washed and tumble dried repeatedly with no issue.

Can people also offer alternative more affordable good quality suggestions, if you have any?

Thank you!

Deffo worth it , there are always codes and you can pay in instalments with Klarna .. well worth the extra!

Darkchocolateandcoffee · 02/10/2021 11:25

Yes their bras and leggings are great and last for ages even if you treat them badly (I wash mine every time I use them at 60). The leggings do not fall down.

I prob wouldn't bother paying their prices for eg a vest though. But I did have a yoga top from them that cost a fortune and lasted for YEARS.

Dozer · 02/10/2021 11:29

Nike Pro leggings much better (comfort) and cheaper IMO.

Sweaty Betty vest workout top (£45 in a sale!!) shrunk in a 40 degree wash. Can’t be arsed with sportswear requiring special wash settings!

Dozer · 02/10/2021 11:30

Do like the thicker yoga leggings but for lounging rather than yoga, too warm for yoga.

SarahBellam · 02/10/2021 11:33

Depends how much you'll use them and what for. I know that almost all gymnasts, for example, swear by Nike Pro shorts, leggings and bras as they stay where there supposed to no matter how they contort themselves.

AuntieStella · 02/10/2021 11:49

No.

I seem to have a reference collection of Lycra garments, and there's really nothing about these that justifies the pricing.

But if you want the label, and can afford them, the performance is fine

How do they compare to lululemon? I have a pair of lulu align pants which are amazing but I need another pair and Sweaty Betty are a bit cheaper.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 02/10/2021 12:02

I love the Power leggings for running. I am also a huge fan of their jumpsuits. I pretty much live in them at weekends. I also love the bamboo yoga bras and vests. Everything I have had so far is lasting really well.

Ypsilanti · 02/10/2021 12:02

Another vote for SB Power leggings - they are the best I’ve found by miles. Never fall down, super comfy, and last years. They air dry really quickly. They’re good value per wear even buying the, full price, but I normally wait for a sale. I also love their Gary trousers (I disagree with the previous comment about quality - I’ve had one pair for 3

  • years, washed weekly, and they’re still going strong) and Stamina sports bras, which I wear for everything (I have small boobs though).
NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 02/10/2021 12:06

I love their Power leggings - worth it at sale prices IMO.

Controversial but I think fabletics are as good and the 2 for £24 joining offer is amazing value. You just have to be on the ball about cancelling immediately afterwards as it's a subscription model.

MsDastardley · 02/10/2021 12:17

I also love power leggings, very flattering and opaque. I have quite a few Athlete vests, which are ok but very small IMO. I’m a size 12 and get an xl so they don’t cling. I think they’ve shrunk slightly too. I always buy in sale or when I have a discount

My friend is a real fan and wears their leisure wear all the time. It’s nice enough, but I prefer other stuff

savvy7 · 02/10/2021 12:32

All day leggings yes absolutely.

OhRosalind · 02/10/2021 12:59

@CP26 I don’t think any of the SB leggings are as soft as the Lululemon align leggings which just feel amazing. For everyday wear rather than yoga/Pilates the sweaty Betty leggings I’ve tried are more flattering thought, especially the super sculpt (which are thick so more suitable for cold weather. The power leggings are nice too and not so wintry.

piefacedClique · 02/10/2021 13:02

Love mine and great sales… you can always get at least twenty percent off the full price. Bicester outlet do virtual shopping:.: you send them a WhatsApp and they get back to you with a video of what they have available in your size. Great discounts… I’ve had a few pairs this way.

Thanks for the advice about Bicester @piefacedClique!

I've looked in the sale and they only have a couple of pairs of Power leggings in a medium and they're the most expensive in the sale. Gutted as they have smaller sizes for £28 Grin
I might just go for it with the full price ones as I like the black!

Another vote for the power leggings, they are amazing. I have 4 pairs and always buy them in the sale which works out less painful!

TheOpenRoad · 02/10/2021 17:08

Can I ask about sizing for the power leggings? Do they come up small or large? For a UK size 12 would you get medium? And large for a 14?

SuperStarRose · 02/10/2021 17:36

Yes you are bang on with the sizing

I think SB leggings are the best out there and they last forever.

doubleshotcappuccino · 02/10/2021 18:01

Oysho leggings are brilliant ..

wombforanotherone · 02/10/2021 18:30

If I'm a 13 should I get medium or large..?

BreakfastOfWaffles · 02/10/2021 18:39

It also depends how tall you are. They are spot on with the recommendation of going for the 7/8 as full length if you're 5ft 4 or under. I am 5ft5 with short legs, size 12,and I wear a 7/8 Small in Sweaty Betty.
Neolara · 02/10/2021 18:43

I too am a big fan of the power leggings. They have survived many outings in the tumble dryer. My current favourite top is the breeze top. Weirdly, it's warm when it's cold and cool when it's warm. I may need to by a second one.

Showmetheworld · 02/10/2021 18:59

I am 5ft 4 and a size 8 and buy the 7/8 power leggings in a size small. I’m pear shaped so the waist is quite big on me but the XS is just a bit too uncomfortably tight on my hips.

bakingdemon · 02/10/2021 19:02

Love it but only ever buy in the sale or with a voucher (eg if you're in their mailing list you get a 50% off any item code)

wombforanotherone · 02/10/2021 19:14

I'm 5'6" with long legs. Not too worried about length but I have a curvy bottom! Often in between a 12&14 - don't want too tight but also don't want them falling down
