A friend is having a baby. She has told me the baby is small. Has anyone any recommendations of where to buy clothes for her (she is having a girl) or any other gift recommendations. I would like to spend around £25 to 30. Thank you!!

M and s do baby clothes in "tiny baby" size and they are really nice quality. It helped us so much when a friend brought us some, such a thoughtful present.

Matalan have some lovely things in Tiny Baby size. My dad had to do an emergency trip after DS was born and all our newborn things were too big!

Eloise12 · 01/10/2021 21:25

That is what has happened @fassnk, all the clothes she has are new born. Really handy to know @ninecoronaswill have a look at both.

George at Asda were great when Dc1 was born very tiny and none of my newborn stuff fitted. Bought quite a few bits for my other DC’s too who were tiny.

I would just sit tight just now OP, until baby is here. Unless I'm wrong and baby is here.

If baby is to small for newborn you can then pick up some tiny baby bits from places suggested.

It may be newborn are just fine, it's only a few weeks then they move on.

My go to baby gift other than clothes is a tuppence and crumble star wrap. Heading into winter just great, much better than a snowsuit for a wee baby.

TU at Sainsbury’s do tiny baby clothes

8dpwoah · 01/10/2021 21:52

M&S tiny baby goes up to about 6.5lb so not that tiny, our DD was 6lb10 born but dropped a little and she wore these for about a fortnight no problem.

seaandsandcastles · 01/10/2021 21:53

Asda were the best place for tiny baby clothes we found.

Cornishmumofone · 01/10/2021 22:11

I agree that Asda was best for tiny clothes.

I've just bought a bundle of nearly new tiny baby clothes, some lovely things from John Lewis, but they are on the pricey side new and not worn for long! Some nice bits from Boots and Sainsbury's too.

Neighneigh · 01/10/2021 22:19

You get given so much new born stuff that actually what might be good is some three month, lovely warm velour all in ones, that sort of thing. My DS is November born and we really loved the warm suits friends bought him. I know velour sounds naff but the baby stuff is really great

What does small mean? Newborn size doesn’t last long (and some babies are straight into 0-3). I buy gifts in petit bateau or little white company.

PivotPivotPivottt · 01/10/2021 22:25

I had a 5lb baby and found Tesco tiny baby stuff the best. The stuff from Asda was too big for her.

KatzP · 01/10/2021 22:25

My Youngest was small at under 5lb and in early baby size from John Lewis and then tiny baby. She was in that size for about a month. Then tiny baby size for another month or so. Despite not getting worn for long they were well used and then passed to the local hospital SCBU.

8dpwoah · 02/10/2021 10:19

That is true- there's small and there's small. I've just assumed OP's friend meant medically small IYSWIM.

Morrisons do tiny baby but it only goes up to 5lb...

Eloise12 · 02/10/2021 12:44

I got some things from the tiny range at M&S, they have some nice things for anyone else looking. Thanks all. Yeah medically small @8dpwoah.
