Eyelash tinting

Does anyone tint their own eyelashes (not eyebrows!). Is there a safe way to do it that doesn't sting?

I've done my eyebrows and eyelashes off and on for years.

Years ago I used Eyelure/Dylash, then went on to Refectocil (for my brows - I'd given up on my lashes by then I think). Then I found out I was allergic to PPD, and started using Refectocil Sensitive. That worked fine until it started sending my brows too reddish/gingery.

Then I found out that the Dyelash dye (NOT the Dyebrow one, for brows) is actually PPD-free, so I started using that (dark brown) on both my lashes and brows, and it works well. You have to be super careful about not getting either of the gels on your skin - using vaseline helps - but I don't find it stings but YMMV. I apply it on my lashes with a mascara wand.

I do mine, I can’t get as close to the lash line as having it done in a salon but it’s plenty good enough to darken my lashes overall and makes them look much better. I use salon systems and buy it from Amazon and I got a bulk buy of mascara wands too. Possibly best to patch test etc

I do mine with Strictly Professional - you need a developer (peroxide) as well as the actual tint. I initially bought a bundle which had a tint bowl and brush as well as the tint/developer - their brush is like an eyeliner brush/slim paintbrush so you can get close to the lash line. I use a disposable mascara spoolie on the ends. (My eyebrow lady gives me them actually.)

I use blue-black on lashes, and brown on eyebrows. A load of Vaseline round my eyes, and keep cotton buds to hand if it does start to sting. I’ve been doing it since I was 15 because my mum always did, so have it down to a fine art 30 years later, but I would say do one eye at a time if you are starting and slightly nervous!

Oh yeah blue black for lashes here too apparently it gives more dimension….it looks nice not 80s

I do mine myself. You can lessen the chance of stinging by not scrubbing any makeup off with a cotton wool pad like the beautician does!

If you do remove make up leave it a good few hours before you dye your lashes.

I use RefectoCil and do one eye at a time and try not to move my eyeball. The first time it did sting and I cried blue tears (blue/black here too) but I'm better at it now. And there was no lasting damage.
Whack it on for 10 mins and then repeat.
I do my brows too with brown and the same developer. I just use the fine paintbrush for both.

I do my brows and eyelashes and they're soo easy (and I'm no expert by any means) I never bother with Vaseline etc just put it on like mascara and wipe off excess/spills with cotton buds. I use Julienne (from Amazon) and it's honestly foolproof, my top tip is make sure you cover the upper side of your lashes (not just the bottoms as you brush up like you would with mascara)
