Girls clothing which is age appropriate for those taller than their age

Bit of a long title but I’m struggling to find clothes for my DD8 who is in age 12 clothes because she’s tall. Either the clothes aren’t age appropriate or she doesn’t like the patterns, think camouflage/animal print, crop tops, dance/sports wear, things with Friends slogans.
I just want some basic T-shits, leggings and dresses, at a reasonable price.
Been to H&M, M&S, Next, Tu at Sains, F&F at Tesco, Primark etc. Any ideas???

I have the same problem. My 6-year-old wears 9-10 and doesn’t want sludgey colours or grown-up slogans.
I’ve found some nice bits at Boden. Although they cost a bit more they are reasonable in the sale and have colourful ‘younger’ clothes in larger sizes. Also quality is good. I only ever buy in the sale! Mountain warehouse can also be good for basics.

does hema ship to uk?
other dutch brands like tumble&dry?

oreosoreosoreos · 28/09/2021 12:23

I have the same issue but for my DS - Boden in great, the stuff washes and wears well. If you buy with a discount code (there’s pretty much always a code floating around) you can often re-sell on eBay/Fb group after they’ve grown out of it for nearly the price you paid for it!

Following with interest. DD is a (young) 7 but in age 9-10.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 28/09/2021 13:36

ASOS has a tall range.

A similar (though older child) thread here might throw up some leads you could try :

I have major issues with my DD8. She’s 148cm but has an 8 year old frame still so not only does she not want the grown up clothes for 11-12/12-13 (why are they all brown and grey?) but nothing fits her.

She lives in leggings which are too short but ok for summer and ok with boots or cycling shorts with Hype T-shirt’s. They are some of the brightest (hideous) designs out there.

I’ve also just discovered that very high waisted super skinny jeans are good too. Any other jeans which fit in the leg just fall down.

Crew Clothing and Fatface are worth a try

ODFOx · 28/09/2021 14:58

Boden , Joules, Verbaudet.
The latter has some lovely simple dresses, leggings and cardigans right up to age 14.

lightlowlight · 28/09/2021 15:00

Fory DD I used la redoute, H&m 14+ and lands end.

resipsa · 28/09/2021 15:02

My 10 year old is now 5'5''. I've given up on the kids rangers and get cheap adult size 8 - they are no more expensive than the kids' versions if you shop wisely.

Stripyfeet · 28/09/2021 15:03

John Lewis own brand clothing goes up to 12y. I have similar issues with my daughter and have managed to get some reasonable items from there.

Miseryisabutterfly · 28/09/2021 15:05

Have you looked at Zara? A lot of their clothes are the same designs from age 6-14. DD is 5 (nearly 6) and wears size 9, I dress her mainly in mini rodini, Zara, wauw capow, molo and bobo choses.

Wtfdoipick · 28/09/2021 15:08

Same issue and I buy John Lewis, fatface, saltrock, joules and boden. I frequently find decent bundles on ebay including those makes. What I do need to find is a plain long sleeved white top she can layer up under her favourite John Lewis dress for winter

IWishIWasABaller · 28/09/2021 15:10

I find next online have a much larger age appropriate range than in-store. Also h&m older range are also lovely too. Can recommend name it as well

DoubleShotEspresso · 28/09/2021 15:11

Biden, Joules, La Redoute, Vertbaudet and Angel and Rocket. Mostly buy in the sake but age appropriate, wash really well and long enough for our tall "little one" who is wearing 9-10 despite being years younger

VanCleefArpels · 28/09/2021 15:12

Uniqlo great for basics, as is H&M

mogtheexcellent · 28/09/2021 15:13

Mostly Boden and fat face here. DD is 7 and skinny but tall (135cm). Clothes hang off her but at least they are brightly coloured and keep her covered. Also check out the second hand boden pages on facebook. Sadly DDs now too tall for most of frugi Sad

It doesnt help that the fashion is for cropped everything Hmm

Nearlyadoctor · 28/09/2021 17:44

My Dd is now 14 but I always bought Boden ( lots of discount codes and sales) . In fact their clothes were a bit childish for 13-14 yrs but as they go up to that size ideal for taller younger children.

Kindleswitchface · 28/09/2021 17:46

Are you going to physical shops or looking online?

People on here always complain about boys clothes being miserable when it just isn't like that at all online.
