mums night out - what to wear????

Going to the pub with mums from school tonight. Not a posh night out, only to local pub (reasonably smart place).
I don't know the mums properly yet and have no idea what they will be wearing. I have a fear of being embarrassingly over or under dressed.
What sort of thing would you wear?

there is no such thing as overdressed

id wear a pair of casual trousers (not jeans) and a nice jumper or top. and heels.

I'd wear nice some smart jeans with a nice top and maybe long/calf boots.
So you can jazz it up with a funky top but not be too over dressed by the jeans and boots.

Or you could go for a dress with a little cardi and long boots.

It's only the pub but it's nice to get a bit dressed up when you've been with the kids all day.

Not jeans Not even smart/clean jeans with a pretty top and high boots??!

I have got some trousers like that, now you come to mention it, but I've not got anything going outy to wear with them...

i agree with lucie - its nice to get a bit dressed up - gives you a bit of confidence too if you are shy about talking to new people

i wouldnt wear jeans, but thats just me!

HoHoHotcrossbunny · 06/12/2007 15:40

Would a black/blue wrap dress and high black suede boots sound OK? I don't have a little cardi....

God, that sounds like a bruise Its not that bad.! Sort of geometric pattern, quite bright zingy blue.

If it was me going to the village pub, I would wear jeans as I know roughly what the other mums would wear but if you're going out to a big youngish pub in town then yes, I'd make more of an effort!

TBH, you'll all just be glad to be going out for the night away from the kids so you're not going to be scrutinizing each other, I'm sure!!!
Even a fine knit, v-neck black jumper would look good with a simple silver necklace and smart jeans so I wouldn't worry.

nailpolish · 06/12/2007 15:42

yes that sounds perfect
enjoy!

Yes - that sounds lovely - blues/purples are in this season - look at all the websites.

so did you have a good night out with the girls, what did you wear and were the others wearing similar things?

HoHoHotcrossbunny · 07/12/2007 11:33

I had a great night thanks

I wore jeans, high black suede boots and a see through but with cami under pretty top. Was just about right, perhaps a wee bit too dressy, but it is Christmas Some mums were wearing trainers and tracky tops - obviously you don't get dressed up much round here....
