Hush Simone Slinky Skirt

I have bought this skirt but just looked at the washing instructions on the label and it says Do not wash - dry clean only. I was wondering if it would be ok on a low temperature delicates wash in my washing machine? Does anyone have this skirt, and have you washed it ?!

I’ve made the mistake of putting dry clean only items in the WM on delicate. As the first item came out fine I figured a different item would also be fine.
It was a £90 item, unwearable. Don’t risk it!

I’ve got this in black & have hand washed, dried & ironed it. The only thing that happened is the waistband has twisted a bit, which is annoying.

Thanks. I'm too lazy to handwash and it's then such a hassle to dry clothes when they're so wet and dripping everywhere. It's a dark cheetah print so hopefully I won't need to wash it very often!

@Noapplejustcrumble- I’m hoping it won’t need too much washing Smile

Noapplejustcrumble · 26/09/2021 20:24

Nearlyadoctor - yes I agree! Can get away without washing skirts too often…

Do you have a tumble drier? I use the dry clean kits designed for tumble driers, mainly on coats or blazers but I think they would work well for a skirt.

Febreze dear

Noapplejustcrumble · 26/09/2021 23:25

Think I’d worry about putting it in a tumble dryer. I’ll probably air it as much as I can and hang it up on the outside of my wardrobe.

Nearlyadoctor - I’m hoping you’ll wash it first and then report back Grin

Hand wash then put in the washer on spin only.

WaltzingBetty · 30/09/2021 05:26

What fabric is it made from?

missmoon · 30/09/2021 08:36

If it’s viscose, don’t risk it! I ruined an expensive dress that way, although other things have been fine to wash.

I think steaming is fine for nearly all dry-clean only clothing, and also for wool, I’m thinking of investing in a Gad held steamer.

missmoon · 30/09/2021 08:36

hand-held steamer!

Tanyaaah · 30/09/2021 11:31

I almost bought this...got to the checkout then read the label! Too expensive to risk it and will not be paying someone else to clean a skirt.

Noapplejustcrumble · 30/09/2021 16:29

@WaltzingBetty it’s 60% viscose and 40% rayon

@missmoon is the high temperature of handheld steamers safe for dry clean only clothes? Do you know if it can be used on silk? I’m tempted, if it’ll save me money in the long run.

Sorry, I’ve just seen this! Yes, as far as I know, it’s safe on silk, viscose, wool, and other dry-clean only fabrics. Anything except for leather and plastic coated fabrics.
