What treatment did Linda Evangelista have?

It's shocking to read that she considers herself deformed. I think she could afford good treatments. Even on mumsnet the posters show treatments that look like they've really worked. Very hard to know what to make of it. Not that I need to ''make anything of it'' but you would have thought that procedures were safe enough. The worst you could expect I thought was that the result wasn't that visible. I didn't think that women with the money for the best treatments would end up feeling deformed.

I think it was fat freezing. She had a reaction to it and 2 corrective treatments haven’t changed much I don’t think.

Cheesepuff1 · 25/09/2021 21:41

yes I was CoolSculpting

WeCanBeHeronsJustForOneDay · 25/09/2021 21:43

Just found the article. It’s called cryolipolysis and cold temperatures are used on localised bulges of fat. PAH (where the fat hardens) will happen to 1 in 4000. This is what’s happened to LE I think.

Downthespidersweb · 25/09/2021 21:45

Sorry op but you are very naive to think this.

thebabessavedme · 25/09/2021 21:46

Looking at her pictures I would say that she has had some sort of treatment that has 'gone wrong', having said that, to me she looks like a pretty normal late 50 something woman - I would imagine that after being a 'super model' that looking 'pretty normal' is a very difficult place to be.

WeCanBeHeronsJustForOneDay · 25/09/2021 21:47

thebabe I don’t think she has been seen in public since she had the treatment which went wrong.

DoubleEx · 25/09/2021 21:48

She had cool sculpting and ended up with a rare side-effect called paradoxical adipose hypoplasia which means that fat cells start to multiply out of control and you get localised fat deposits that you can’t get rid of.

Apparently she wasn’t warned of this risk before she went ahead with the procedure so she is suing the centre that treated her.

I thought the same.

Actually I think describing yourself as 'disfigured' because you look plumper than you would like, and more like most women of your age group is more than a bit OTT.

ManifestingJoy · 25/09/2021 21:50

Yes I hope for her sake that her use of the word deformed is hyperbole

Ozanj · 25/09/2021 21:53

I have seen what can go wrong with this procedure as my cousin is living with the cosequences. I bet what you see as ‘normal’ is after dozens of corrective surgical and non-surgical procedures and the best make up and skincare money can buy. A normal woman would not have escaped so lightly.

There's a photo of her on the front page of yesterday's Times.
JaneJeffer · 25/09/2021 21:57

Was she even fat in the first place? She probably didn't need any "treatment" at all.

ManifestingJoy · 25/09/2021 22:00

OH i saw the photo. Well, she's not looking as well as she might I guess but it'd be sad not to go out because she could be more attractive. I hope that now the photo is out there she says fuck it and goes to all the places she's avoided for the last five years.

Nowhere does it state the area of her body that she considers to be 'deformed' or 'deformed'. I suspect it is not her face at all. Given the pictures, it could possibly be her neck but then we can't see the rest of her body/what her clothes are concealing.

While you might not like the way she is describing how she now feels, I don't think it is for us to judge her. She is perfectly entitled to how she is feeling and I really feel for her. Given how much her looks are tied up with her identity and self-worth, I'm not surprised she felt it easier to hide herself away rather than open herself up to censure and judgement from others who have taken offence at her use of language, or for the fact she undertook a cosmetic procedure.

Oh! I have misunderstood, I saw the picture and thought that was before the procedure. She looks fine! Sure maybe not like a supermodel but like a woman in her 50s with some jowels.

ManifestingJoy · 25/09/2021 22:09

the scarf around her neck might mean that the unsightly area is on her neck.

OP posts:
justasking111 · 25/09/2021 22:09

She's put on a lot of weight all over so it's difficult to say what is natural and what is abnormal.

Alwayscheerful · 25/09/2021 22:11

I suspect the scarf is covering the problem area.

What treatment did Linda Evangelista have?
CovoidOfAllHumanity · 25/09/2021 22:16

She has been wearing hats, scarves and dark glasses in all pictures in recent years as well as baggy clothes so I think we can surmise her face is what she feels was deformed.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 25/09/2021 22:19

I know you can have the fat freezing thing on your chin. I really would have thought it would be fixable with lipo/ facelift

PandoraP · 25/09/2021 22:27

Has she not just out on weight and aged. She must be nearly 60. Cindy Crawford looks completely different too after all her surgery.

Goingdriving · 25/09/2021 22:36

The NYT said it was her chin bra area inner thighs flank and stomach. The procedure caused the fat cells to paradoxically multiply in the area of treatment instead of being destroyed. The fat cells then harden - in the block shape of the machine that is pressed against the skin to freeze the fat. LE has had liposuction twice to try and correct (say the NYT) which is what cool sculpt say is the only way to rectify but it has not worked and has also left her with scarring. She was always an angular model, all edges and defined lines. I can imagine that this is traumatic for her.

Goingdriving · 25/09/2021 22:38

The hardened fat doesn’t go away with dieting - other people who have had the same side effect say they loose weight but the hardened large fat block remains.

justasking111 · 26/09/2021 00:07

Just googled the images of coolsculpting gone wrong. Jakers it's awful

I agree. She looks normal. However, photos of her around 40 show she already had a slack jawline and this was years before the fat freezing procedure. She was possibly ageing prematurely compared with her colleagues which prompted the extensive work she had done.
