That ONE product that is a must?

If money wasn't an object or the one product you could not be without what would it be?

I'm on the later side of my 30's and in recent years have become very aware of looking after my skin.

I don't particularly have an skin goals but feel as if I need to introduce a product in my evening routine such as an oil maybe? Something nourishing/ help to fight against fine lines before they become an issue.
My skin can be combination depending on my cycle, I get spots around my mouth which are always hormonal.

Would love to read your must-haves so I can treat myself for once!

Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment is the only thing that has made a notable difference to my skin:

Agree with @RonaldMcDonald

  • tretinoin (prescription strength retinol)
  • spf 50
  • Botox

I would also add vitamin C and niacinamide and zinc.

Then if spotty - salicylic acid (a BHA)

Blessex · 24/09/2021 19:46

@JMAngel1 oh you just reminded me to get some of The Ordinary ascorbic acid powder (vitamin C). The reason this is so good is because vitamin c degrades in a liquid formula so getting it in a powder and then mixing it in yourself is ace.

@Sassy31 if you are serious about retinol then it’s no good buying over the counter stuff. Is not strong enough to really make the difference which is what you are noticing. Get some tretinoin which is prescription strength. You simply need to visit a derm then buy it. It’s not cheap but it does the job. First 3 months your skin peels off and is red. Perservere. Once it is used to it it really works.

Under eye fillers. I have very hollow under eyes and although I don't have dark circles, the shadows they create makes it look like i do. Concealer can't solve solve the problem. I've had it done once and it looked like I'd had the best nights sleep of my life. Desperate to do it again.

How do you find a good Botox practitioner? Looking at my friends, none of them have had Botox so I can't ask anyone and I've been put off by scare stories.

ThePotatoCroquette · 24/09/2021 21:51

Moisturiser with SPF that's my only must have I use a lot of moisturiser and hate getting sunburnt!

Tretinoin.

Don't bother with over the counter retinol, go straight for the hard stuff from the online Spanish pharmacy!

Its brilliant and the only thing proven to make any significant difference to the structure of your skin. You also need SPF though.

Blessex · 25/09/2021 07:38

@Passmeamenuatthetottenham totally agree. Which online Spanish pharmacy do you use? I get mine a great expense from a U.K. derm. Would love to get online from Spanish pharmacy

LunaTheCat · 25/09/2021 07:52

Factor 30 sunscreen.

I agree about seeing a doctor for the spots. I had a huge breakout after years of clear skin, a couple of weeks ago. I got a retinoid/benzoyl peroxide cream on prescription and it had cleared up within five days. It was miraculous.

I am now trying to counter the severe dryness and sensitivity that it has left me with, but the treatment itself was amazing, and I am hoping the sensitivity and dryness will reduce.

Preech · 25/09/2021 08:32

Cerave hydrating cleanser. Fragrance free, hyaluronic acid, cleansing but not stripping. Easy enough to use in the shower (I've heard I'm not meant to wash my face in the shower, but I can't square that logically).

And the AM and PM moisturiser.

If I want a night mask, Beauty Kitchen Abyssinian Oil mask is lovely for my dry skin. It separates in the heat, though, so I keep it in the fridge.

Remembering to drink water instead of yet another coffee ☕️.
