Show me your winter dressing gowns for cosy but not sweaty days on the sofa watching Christmas movies

My dressing gown only comes down to my knees and I feel very grumpy in it. Plus after a few days it starts to take on the smell of vomit. It's fleece and this seems to be a problem with fleece things. I'd love an ankle length warm but not sweaty dressing gown that isn't expensive.

I have an M&S one like this www.marksandspencer.com/rosie-fleece-dressing-gown/p/clp60510651?color=CLARET. It must be about 5years old and still looks like new. I wear it nearly all day every day between November and March and occasionally at other times of the year if I'm cold.

I love my hooded white company robe which is long and super cosy

Bluesheep8 · 21/09/2021 16:13

You feel grumpy in it?

FlatteredFool · 21/09/2021 18:43

Frumpy but sometimes I am grumpy in it too Grin it makes me feel very round.

I think you need to throw that dressing gown in the bin!

I’m partial to nice (breathable) pyjamas and a cosy blanket on the sofa. I find dressing gowns a faff.

Miseryisabutterfly · 21/09/2021 18:55

Just before anyone tells me off, donate it to charity, don’t throw it in the bin!

Bluesheep8 · 21/09/2021 19:32

Even when you get a new one, you must keep this one. It shall be known as the Grumping Gown and everyone will know you're in a bad mood if you're wearing it 🤣

I used to have a cord full length one with a hood. It was a gift and expensive so I can't justify replacing it but it lasted a good ten years looking well.
Was warm and cozy feeling because it was heavy.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 21/09/2021 19:53

My DH has a fleece dressing gown that stinks of vomit 🤢 after a couple of days of being washed. It cost £40 so not super cheap. Why?!

FreddieStandensBFF · 21/09/2021 19:56

Oh no, this is where people post pictures of the most amazing silk and cashmere dressing gowns and I get jealous.

Fluffyowl00 · 21/09/2021 20:07

I have one Iike this. Lovely! And I’m a size 14 and have a small and have to roll the sleeves up once. For the first time ever I feel petite!

I have a full length cashmere robe in charcoal grey from the white company. It was a Christmas present and it’s very lovely.

I don't do dressing gowns, they're either too thin or too sweaty.
I have an ancient knee length black and grey cardigan that is known by my children affectionately as the cardimum. They like to use it as a blanket when they're under the weather, even the young adults.

I have a lovely fruity purple velour, ankle length one with deep and wide snack pockets I bought at Ikea of all places around 12-13 years ago. It's 3 sizes bigger than my usual size, to give me lots of huggable, wraparound snuggyness, perfect for the winter.

tintodeverano2 · 21/09/2021 22:42

Cotton towelling dressing gowns are the way to go. I just get so sweaty in the fleecy ones.

@goose1964 I have the same dressing-gown and also wear it nearly all day! It’s drastically reduced our heating bill Grin

I remember at the time of buying it the photo on the M&S website was Rosie H-W seductively slipping it off her shoulders revealing a silky stockings & suspenders combo, but I prefer to style it firmly belted up and accessorised with flannel PJs and sheepskin slippers Grin

I find dressing gowns very bulky and they get it my way. I'm large of chest so that may have something to do with it. The added bulk is annoying!

I have this which is incredibly cosy. Perfect for cosying up on the couch I've worn it outside the house too and it's also fairly presentable for work calls:
