Anyone got a good dupe for Becca backlight primer?

I wore this primer every day for work and really love it and it’s been discontinued! Does anyone know of a close match? I’ve tried Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow and didn’t get on with it. Thanks!

I used to use this every day too, and was gutted when it was discontinued. There is a lot of it on ebay, which is where I got my last tube. I know that there is the risk of fakes, but mine seems the real thing.

Yeah I was thinking eBay. I’m slightly gutted as it was so gorgeous on my skin! I’ll update if I find anything close! My list to try so far is:

Physicians Formula - spotlight primer

Ester Lauder - the Illuminator primer

Me too gutted!

Saladovercrispsanyday · 20/09/2021 10:14

It’s on eBay but big mark up
And I always worry fake from eBay cosmetic

Saladovercrispsanyday · 20/09/2021 10:15

I’m going to try nars next or Laura marcier

And I had just tried that under eye brightened, made me look alive and less like an extra Adams family member! Argh Grin

Yeah I’ve had a few eBay disasters when it comes to make up!

I'm going to try Smashbox when my ebay Becca runs out. I really rate Benefit Pore-fessional, but I have the original one, and it is not at all glowy. Its an absolutely fantastic primer though, I get through loads of it as it acts as a filler in my lines. Maybe there are others in the Pore-fessional range that have a glow?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/09/2021 10:17

Funnily enough I saw a video yesterday about this and one of the suggestions was an Elf primer.

myfacelookslikeatoe · 20/09/2021 10:18

I used to use the benefit primers but I think my skin has changed as I’ve got older as it doesn’t seem to work for me now, this is why I was so in love with this becca one as I’d tried loads of primers and this was the first one that looked good on me, grr. Grin

I don't know,it was mentioned in the comments on a live video. Worth a shot?

myfacelookslikeatoe · 20/09/2021 11:12

I’ll give it a go!

Please report back!

myfacelookslikeatoe · 20/09/2021 13:05

I’ve also just picked up Lisa Eldridge Cosmic Rose highlighter which looks like it could be similar with the lack of glittery bits etc. I’ll report back in everything I try. Will try and get a sample of that Estée Lauder one tomorrow.

I have had a couple of the Estee Lauder illuminating primers. I liked it, it does illuminate, but I don't think I'd describe it as a primer as I didn't feel that it did prime. But it does lift foundation, is light and easy to apply.

DoylyCarte · 20/09/2021 13:29

You could try adding a pump of Chanel Le Blanc into any primer to give an illuminating effect.

myfacelookslikeatoe · 20/09/2021 13:44

Ooh thank you!

Ok update I tried:

Lisa Eldridge Cosmic highlighter

Physicians Formula spotlight highlighter

Mac strobe cream

Charlotte tilbury wonder glow

The Estée Lauder one mentioned above

None of them are close the Becca backlit primer.

Anyone tried anything else that came close?

Oh no! This was the only one I’d found without silicones in that was nice on my skin 😞

PrairieBlue · 17/01/2022 10:59

I love Becca Backlight, I've used it in summer and the Becca First Light in winter for years. I use no end of Becca products Sad
As dupes, I have tried:

Physicians Formula spotlight - broke me out
Elf - I didn't like it
Sephora own brand dupe - ok but didn't make much difference illumination wise, good primer though.

There is a L'Oreal one which is supposed to be good, Lumi Magic or something I think, but it has silicones in which break me out, so I haven't tried it.

I am thinking about going back to the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, or the Aldi dupe of it. I used it before I started using Becca and although its a bit of a faff to put on (have to put foundation/bb cream on quickly before the flash balm dries if not it pills dreadfully) it always worked brilliantly.

Shmippy · 17/01/2022 11:05

Becca's Under Eye Corrector is returning in March as part of Smashbox's range, they might do the same with other Becca products too.

myfacelookslikeatoe · 17/01/2022 12:31

Ooooh thank you @Shmippy yaaay! Will look out for that.

@PrairieBlue yeah I’ve had the same issues. The physician formula I had high hopes for but it broke me out too, also looks like they are dropping the range in boots as it was being sold off and they had no stock in really.

@Moomarre I know! Typical when you find one that’s great isn’t it.

I haven't used the backlight primer , so this may not be hugely helpful (have used the first light primer though) but the Lumene Instant Illumination in midnight sun seems to me to look very similar. I use it and gives my skin a nice non shimmery glow - I use tinted moisturiser or bb cream on top.

myfacelookslikeatoe · 17/01/2022 14:27

@Ponks ooh thank you, I’ll have a look!
