Hair - where am I going wrong??

Realised I needed to invest more time and attention to my hair a few months ago and have been doing just that. It's naturally thick and a little way, is cut to my shoulders. I now:
Only wash twice a week
Use heat protection
Olaplex products (8, 3 and the shampoo), always condition etc
Cold water at end of a wash
Never dyed it
Bought the parlux hairdryer, dry it to 60-80% then blow dried in sections holding as much tension, nozzle pointing down etc.
Diet is fairly good, probably could do with more water, do regular exercise
Early 30s
Had it recently cut

But hair looks like this still. Is it a finishing product I need or better blow dry technique?? Just feel doomed to puffy, dull frizzy hair forever!

I started to use Moroccan argan oil and its really helped mine.

Straighten it ?
I don't think it looks bad but if you want sleek run some straighteners through it

I have very fizzy hair, am also healthy, fit and treat my hair well. I drink a ton of water and sleep just fine.
my hair is still frizzy because that's it's pattern.

Ive honestly learned to roll with it a bit. Sometimes I sleek it out with a heated brush but mostly now I leave it with a touch of frizz as this keeps the body and life in it to be honest. I think perceptions about natural frizz are more ruinous than frizz itself.
My hair seems to look better if my skin is good in general, and I do think your hair is a lovely colour.

I see tons of young girls now just leaving it alone, and they look lovely.
Good on them!

Straighteners Will smooth it out.
A serum at the end.
Do you wash your hair on a morning?
I find mine goes frizzy if I do so I do it on a nighttime blow dry, then straighten in morning

Mines been like this since I moved from a soft water to a hard water area. Someone told me that is the reason. I don’t know how true it is.
The only thing that works is straightening unfortunately as I’m sure that makes the condition worse.

Thanks all, food for thought. Hard water area plus probably just my natural hair state were my suspicions. A fair few wiry greys in there now too It's! It's better with a straightener but lacks the lovely movement of a nice blow dry. Trying to avoid excessive heat as well. Oh well!

I find the other way round - good hair day and everything else looks better particularly my skin and outfits look more put together. Will try a serum and the argon oil, thank you!

You need a keratin treatment at the hairdressers. My hair looks like yours without it. With the keratin, it is silky smooth as if I have just had a professional blow-dry, but without any effort.

tropicalwaterdiver · 18/09/2021 17:19

Hard water is the reason. I washed my hair using the same shampoo in soft water and hard water and the difference is unbelievable. Hard water leaves residue and hair looks dull and not healthy.
However, as I live in hard water area, I started to use dry oil for my hair and it helps.

I bought a Daphni straightening brush.

It's been great.

Smoothes my hair out without the poker straight finish from straighteners so it still has a bit of wave/movement (I've also found you can use it to curl the ends of your hair).

It's much faster to use than straighteners as well given you don't really have to section your hair, you're literally just brushing through it.

Living Proof 5 in 1 treatment before drying.
