Hi all,

I have a severe hair fall issues after moving to UK. My hairs are very frizzy and scanty. Do you all think it's a good idea to get the permanent hair straightening done of course with some good nourishment to my hair on a regular basis. I have heard hair straightening causes further hair fall. Pls help and share your thoughts

Thanks Smile

Permanent hair straightening is not a good idea if you are already having hair fall. Ask your doctor for blood tests to first find out the reason behind your hair loss. For frizz you can use smoothing products. Good luck

Was your move to the UK very stressful? Stress can cause hair loss. It can also be a symptom of peri-menopause/menopause and can happen post-partum, if any of those apply to you.

I agree with pp. to see your GP and try to find out what's causing the hair loss.

In the meantime, make sure you are eating a balanced diet and take a multi-vitamin - just a basic one, no need to spend a fortune as they all do the same thing.

Condition your hair well and comb it very gently to avoid breakage which will exacerbate the problem. I use the Garner 'hair food' masks as a leave-in to stop breakage and also give body. Rinse your hair after shampooing and then before drying, just work in a finger-tip amount to the ends of your hair and leave in.

I’d see a dr too, our hairs not meant to just fall out all of a sudden.

Where are you from originally? For example many Indian / Pakistani / Nigerian friends had hair fall when coming to the UK because of the change in diet / vitamin d levels. You absolutely have to take a multivitamin & vitamin D to compensate.

I disagree that all vitamins are the same. I'd get a good B complex at least. And a more general good multivitamin and mineral with 100% of RDA of everything else. Agree that you should get your thyroid and iron levels checked and consider if you have been stressed (it takes a while for stress the play put in your hair, so it could be due to something that happened maybe a year ago) or if you could be peri menopausal.

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously are there any good multivitamin and b complex that you can recommend? I'm looking for some as well

I have these. There is also a company called Garden of Life who do raw vitamins -think they are called vitamin code and they do all different types depending on what you need.
I've also found the Perfectil vitamins that specialise in hair to be effective for me, but not the normal ones, the ones specifically for hair.
