I don't suit trousers at all, what to do?

I am so tired of pairing most things with leggings. I wear skirts/dresses often in summer, but am really struggling with my cooler weather wardrobe this year.

I spent yrs living in the mountains wearing hiking gear, so have forgotten how to dress outside of that. I keep resorting to cashmere loose fit jumpers and leggings. It suits me, im slim, my legs are good, but I feel ever so slightly flat about it.

Lifestyle - poping into village, town, etc, meeting friend for coffee. I wfh so don't have to be too smart but I am really sick of my entire wardrobe revolving around leggings (I have cashmere, merino, sweaty Betty, mint velvet, etc so the whole caboodle on the legging front!)

I would adopt skirts but all I can find are flimsy fabrics and polyester, I can't seem to find decent winter skirts. I also feel skirts aren't always practical.
Would love to wear loose fit cords with a nice sleek jumper but they are all high waisted and too baggy, and I hate jeans in general.

Any ideas? Should I stick with the leggings?
if you don't like jeans or trousers, what do you wear?

Would you consider some Lucy and Yak corduroy dungarees? Specifically the slimmer fit originals and worn less oversize than the models.

I honestly don't suit those either!

Skinny leg trousers in different materials ie cord, leather, cotton?

I have really good legs and suit leggings & shorts, but not skirts. I have one denim pencil skirt that suits me because it hits just above the knee.

I tend to wear opaque tights with black denim shorts in the autumn/winter as an alternative too.

Skirts with thick wool tights (two pairs when it's cold or a pair with socks and boots).

These skirts are wool so should be warm , a few of them are a bit meh but some are very nice. www.johnlewis.com/browse/women/womens-skirts/wool/_/N-fm2Z1z06yi2

I wear similar to you in summer and then in winter I wear dresses with wooly tights and boots. I'm never cold.

Corduroy skirts seem like a good option. I used to wear them a lot when I was working in a smart-casual environment (I now wfh so no one sees my bottom half!).

Seasalt often has good ones - A-line, knee length, in dark colours and very practical paired with opaque tights. Like this one here: www.seasaltcornwall.com/mays-rock-cord-skirt

I also love pinafore dresses because they're ideal for layering - just a jersey top or tee under in warmer weather and a jumper under or a cardi over when it's colder. My favourites are corduroy and cotton twill fabrics from Lucy & Yak, Lily & Me and Run & Fly (does every clothing company have an ampersand in their name these days?!), but there are lots available at the moment.

I’ve just bought two of these skirts, they are really nice. I got one cord and the denim. The denim skirt isn’t lined as described, so not quite as nice. The lining helps skim over my stomach!

I’ve tried quite a few of the skirts in the John Lewis link. Hobbs skirt lengths seem to be too short or that but too long for me. They all clinged on stomach too

I mostly wear dresses in winter, with thick tights and boots.

Usually thick jersey dresses from Boden or elsewhere.

the only thing that puts me off skirts (and I love them!) is feeling too dressed up for a walk, etc, and how I can't seem to imagine a rain coat (or length) to go with them.

I love midi lengths too, but the materials are often shiny, polyester or chiffony. This fabric contrasts really oddly with my old Barbour waterproof Grin
