Hi all,

does anybody have any tips for acne roscacea? mines seems to have flared up recently!! I used to take lymecycline tablets which were AMAZING but im going through IVF so my GP has advised me to come off them. I use the cetaphil range as a cleanser and a moisturizer. However, i have heard good things about adding Azealic acid and Sulfur soap? Can anyone advise?
Also, does anyone have a good concealer ?

Thanks Flowers

I have acne roseacea and it was always much worse in pregnancy.

Last March I went to a skin clinic and had a full consultation. I have now ditched all my old products and invested in the medical grade ones they recommended. The difference has been huge. Obagi vitamin c serum, Tebiskin moisturiser, Synchrorose cleanser and balm and a daily UV sun screen all prescribed treatments. The initial outlay is expensive but I have saved a fortune with all the previous treatments I have invested in.

My rosacea is very much hormonal. I also had a course of mandelic peels which made a big difference too. My skin tends to improve the more nourished it is so I stick with the Bobbi Brown serum foundation and skip the concealer.

Its a really frustrating hard condition and flare ups really affect my self confidence. I was literally at the end of my tether by the time I went to the clinic. x

@bizbazboz thank you for replying
yeah its a really frustrating condition. the tablets seem to be the solution but obviously i cant take them until im done with IVF/pregnancy Sad

I might do some investigationg into some local skin clinics and see what they say.

im delighted that i have to wear a mask at work so i can hide my face Blush i try not to wear make up during the week but when im going somewhere nice, i like to look less scary than i do lol

I second medical grade skincare but also a course of intense pulsed light (IPL) to the whole area. Cleared mine up permanently.

You can use azelaic acid in pregnancy I think? I've just started on it so too early to tell but seems to really work for some.

Can I ask bizbazboz which skin clinic you used? I'm trying to get a good routine in place but seem to be reacting to everything.

@bizbazboz i second that question from @Randomuser9876

Think im going to try the azealic acid and incorporate it into my PM routine.

My DD has dreadful Rosacea, she uses the Kalm range which has made a huge difference.

I use natural olive oil soap. You can get it from any health food shop it’s stopped my acne and reduced my redness plus it’s also very moisturising.
I use a factor 50 tinted moisturiser but it can leave a bit of a sheen.

LeanneBrownsLonelyBraincell · 15/09/2021 19:05

When I had rosacea the thing that made a visible difference was giving up dairy.

I was prescribed Soolantra cream by Dermatologist (Ivermectin) which has helped considerably. I also double cleanse am and pm. I use a niacinamide serum and an azeliac acid serum too. Dermatologist also advised a day cream with spf 30 to 50 everyday. Since I have been following this regime with collagen tablets my skin has improved very much!

Green colour corrector might help if it's really red?

BlackSwan · 16/09/2021 00:35

IPL treatment as mentioned above - cleared mine up, 80% gone with 1 treatment. Ask the skin clinic.
