I know this has been done before but what are your favourite methods of hair removal on the face? Particularly the chin and neck. It’s really starting to bother me.

I don’t want to just bleach it as I’m fair already and I still want it gone. I can’t afford IPL

Thanks mumsnetters x

If it's soft peach fuzz type hair then have you thought about dermaplanning? I used to get waxed but wasn't happy with it and then covid hit so I tried the veet dermaplanning kit at home. Really impressed and I can't believe I struggled (and was really unhappy with it) for so many years before. The hair grows back soft and is not at all like when you've shaved your legs. I do also use the Philips Lumea on the sides of my face which I helps keep regrown down. They say to do it every 2 weeks on the dermaplanning kit but I'm finding every 3/4 weeks works best for me.

I pluck the dark ones daily (I have pcos) and I have a lot of white peach fuzz which I shave once a week with a men's wet razor. Dermaplaning is just a way of making women feel like they're not shaving but running a blade down your face is in fact shaving so you might as well use a proper blade.

@Dragonpox is right. Save your money and just do it yourself. I was self conscious for ages and wish I'd just shaved years ago.

Iknow you say you can't afford IPLbut thereare some cheaper brands on Amazon for around £60. It could be a cheaper method in the long run.

Or maybe ask for one as a Christmas gift if you have that type of relationship with anyone.

Tweezers and a springy stick.

Flawless trimmer.

Philips lumea. Shave and fire. It won’t grow back for weeks and then months.

But this won't work on white peach fuzz presumably? Just on the wirey black ones

Hi sorry I nipped out so havnt had chance to reply.

Thanks for the suggestions. There is some peach fuzz but I also have thick bristley ones sprouting out of my chin and neck Hmm I’m lucky they are fairly blonde but they are still noticeable because they are thick. I’ve been checked for pcos but everything came back negative. I might get a second opinion now things are opening back up.

I’m currently using a men’s wet razor to shave them and a single eyebrow blade thingy off Amazon in between. I just wondered if anyone had any miracles to slow down the regrowth and make the smoothness last longer lol.

The joys of ageing.

I just brought from boots Wilkinson trimmer its just like the flawless that's been around for a time, only it does eyebrows and bikini line as well, I watched a blogger use it and as she is dark haired and says the hairs don't grow back thicker, I used it on Friday when it came so far so good, its to early to say if they grow back thicker, let's hope not.

Dragonpox · 14/09/2021 19:08

My pcos doesn't show up in blood work, but it did on an ovary scan. I think it can present in different ways.

LittleWingSoul · 14/09/2021 19:53

Does dermaplaning really not make it grow back bristly and stubbly? Or even shaving - how would it not grow back bristly?

Springy thing and tweezers for me.

beansprout55 · 14/09/2021 20:06

I spent THOUSANDS on laser hair removal.
Jawline, upper lip, bikini and legs! Thousands....

All came back within weeks.... I thought there was nothing to be done other than monthly humiliating waxing sessions until my sister recommended Phillips Lumear.... the BEST money I've ever spent. I love it so much. Haven't had my private's waxed in two years now Smile

PermanentTemporary · 14/09/2021 20:10

I used to shave twice a day on Rachel, chin, cheeks and throat, and it was still pretty bad. Three years into using a Lumea I shave chin and throat once a day, tweezer a few and if I occasionally forget it's not that bad. Doesn't sound like a big change but it's huge to me. However, my facial hair is quite dark

Tache not Rachel!!
