Hi just turned 44 and realised I need new make up. My foundation looking patchy, skin combination needs new moistuirer and dark circles need concealer. Got combination and sensitive skin but need all on budget. I'm rubbish with brushes, always use fingers. I love the dewy look but stuck in rut of covering face in powder since I was 17.

The best budget foundation I've used is The Ordinary Serum Foundation. It's about a fiver and comes in a huge range of colours. They also do a brilliant primer which is also about £5.

Essence have some lovely lipsticks and their Lash Princess mascaras are my absolute favourites, better than £30 ones I've used.

Essence and The Ordinary are both available on justmylook.com (free postage too) but you can also buy Essence from Wilkinson's if you have one near you.

Essence is good for bits and bobs, I found the ordinary foundation to be very shimmery on the skin , I've been using the aldi bb cream and it is a perfect match for my skin ,there are only 2 shades though and I use the medium to dark but very good considering the price , you could get both colours and mix them to suit.
Revolution eye palette are very good for the price as well.

I would go for a more expensive foundation then budget for the other pieces.
Good foundation is the key to good makeup IMO

KirstenBlest · 14/09/2021 08:12

I like Rimmel and Boots No7

inmyslippers · 14/09/2021 08:13

Revolution

Number 7 Hydra-Luminous foundation is really light and dewy. It's about £15 but is worth the money.

Maybelline Liquid blusher is about £7 and goes on lovely

Rummikubfan · 14/09/2021 08:15

I spend money on foundation, use the IT COC cream and Bobby brown bronzer but I get everything else at revolution which I find excellent

PandoraP · 14/09/2021 08:33

I really rate Number 7 too. It’s the only foundation I keep going back to. I really like the flawless foundation. So light and dewy.

You can make your own dewy foundation by adding a drop of liquid highlighter to your usual foundation and blending well all over.

I like elf for budget make up

Bourjois serum foundation for a fiver on amazon. It is more limited to yellow tone skin (unlike no.7 which is too pink for me). It is as good as anything I've tried that cost six times as much. Max factor is great for mascara. Kiko is great for eyeliner etc.

Revolution and MUA from Superdrug( MUA is very cheap)

Deathraystare · 15/09/2021 09:40

I agree with the poster who recommended Wilko Essence for mascara. Boots no7 are good for foundations but I also like Garnier BB cream and got some lovely eyeshadow palettes from MUA and Sleek. Rimmel are also good for foundation, mascara, lipstick and nail polish.

ILoveShula · 15/09/2021 10:07

I have a Maybelline tubing mascara and I reckon it is good.
Primark gets rave reviews on here but the stuff I bought haven't particularly impressed me. It's cheap and cheerful but not wonderful.
The Essence stuff is better.

I also like Body Shop stuff but don''t like being pounced on by shop assistants

Generally like the Boots make up and skincare. Most No 7 stuff is brilliant and good value

One thing I don't like about cheap brands is packaging that falls to bits almost as soon as you've opened it.
