Anyone know of a cheaper version of this dress?

I love this dress from Seasalt but it’s £75! I have a 25% off code but even then it still feels very expensive. But looks like the versatile kind of thing I really want.

Any suggestions of alternatives? I just can’t justify this!

I don't, but sea salt are lovely quality.

FleasInMyKnees · 12/09/2021 19:15

What material do you want

White Stuff

Although if you love the Seasalt dress and think you’ll wear it a lot it’s probably better value for money to get that one.

New look

Fruityb · 12/09/2021 19:50

Material either cotton or viscose - so I know this one is perfect for that! And I know it’ll be great quality… and will likely last ages. It just feels like a lot of money you know?

I can’t wear man made fibres as I just sweat and sweat!

I'd look for that dress on ebay or vinted

DayPyjamas · 12/09/2021 23:47

This Hush dress

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/hush-iris-t-shirt-dress-midnight/p5077925?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

How much would you usually spend on a dress?

Another way to look at it is that you could buy 2 x £30 dresses that you’ll quite like and probably wear once a fortnight each, or for under £60 (with discount code) you can have a dress you’ll absolutely love and wear once a week. The £60 dress seems more expensive, but offers the same value for money. Better if you consider you’ll enjoy wearing it more.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/09/2021 07:17

Louise's Closet has Seasalt seconds and previous seasons. Worth a look.

With 25% off I'd definitely get that dress, the quality is amazing and you'll get years out of it.

BikeRunSki · 13/09/2021 08:32

keep an eye out on here, but to be honest, Seasalt rarely do codes, so make the most of it, and use the code if you can scrape together the rest you need.

Agree that 25% is a great discount for Seasalt! Another ‘buy it!’ vote.
The clothes do last…and you will get pleasure from it. I have t shirts which are several years old, and still fine (although I do hope they bring back the grey and white traditional striped Bretons, so I can replace them!), and a Janelle coat about to take me through a fourth winter.
I would prefer to buy one decent Seasalt item than a few cheaper ones.

mrssmiling · 13/09/2021 08:57

Oh, and several Larissa shirts - all three to four years old, and still looking good - not even missing a button! 😁

BikeRunSki · 13/09/2021 09:01

@mrssmiling, my grey and white SS Breton is my favourite garment, and I have to limit how often I wear it!

mrssmiling · 13/09/2021 09:20

@bikerunski Completely agree with you! I don’t understand why they don’t bring it back - long sleeved, evenly striped throughout, without a broad panel of colour at the top, unlike the current offering.

A classic, much missed colour combination - will stock up if they ever see sense! 😉

I know that this isn't what you were asking op , but have you considered learning to sew? The reason I ask is that if you're unwilling to pay that price for what is actually a simply constructed dress , it'd be a good solution.

I recently made something very similar to this dress , the fabric would cost about £20 for what you want and the pattern about £10. Obviously you'd have to have a machine too but I thought it was worth mentioning as you want to wear specific fabrics.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/09/2021 10:57

Are you sure that dress is still available OP, I can't see it at lol on the website. I might've sorted your issue for you Grin

ON not lol

it is on the website, its the peak harvest dress
Fruityb · 13/09/2021 11:17

I can sew and make a lot of my own dresses already 😊 but this one is just something I’d love. I think I’d get tons out of it as well.

Sod it - I’ll buy it 😁 I just think I’d get so much wear out of it. I have two sailor tops from there that I live in and a denim pinafore that will be coming out again soon. I have the discounts for teachers code - it was 50% a year ago!!

The majority of my clothes are from Asda or Sainsbury's, but I do own several Seasalt tops and dresses as I feel the price reflects the quality. With 25% discount I'd save up and buy it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/09/2021 12:18

Hooray, you won't regret it, I love my Seasalt clothes!!
