Dyson corrale?

anyone tried these straighteners?

I never used to use straighteners. I have pretty curly hair but it only goes curly on the day I wash it, and just looks wavy/frizzy after that. And recently, it has become enormous. Really tons of volume, frizz, you name it - looks like a cartoon witch most of the time.

So I am thinking I might need straighteners, and these say that they don't use as much heat. They are cordless which might be easier. But some reviews say they don't get rid of frizz that well. And frnakly, I don't have the patience to spend ages doing it, sectioning it into tiny bits etc, and with huge hair, I might have to.

So for the (equally huge) price, i don't know if it'd be worth it for me.

I'm slightly a sucker for Dyson things though as they always seem good in the adverts. The AirWrap doesn't work for me - still ends up huge and frizzy and wiry looking - so I'd have to sell it first anyway (and on that note - how and where do you sell quite expensive things like that? facebook marketplace? cash only? I'd be worried about ebay/paypal and having to post it and claims it didn't work or something).

anyone tried these? Or are they too new? Many of the reviews I think are people getting them for free to try and post reviews, which I never quite trust.

I’ve got them, they are good but… the plates don’t glide as effortlessly as they would have you believe. I still feel some snagging which is disappointing. I like the cordless design, battery life is fine, and they heat up really quickly. A lot of people complain about the weight but I don’t find them heavy.

I don’t know if it is a coincidence, and I am going through the hair shedding stage of growth cycle, but I feel like I am losing a lot of hair since I started to use the, so have cut back

I bought mine from QVC so could have returned. I decided to keep as when I do use them my hair does look great and have had compliments

I would give them 6/10 overall. An expensive luxury, and really not worth the money

MsDastardley · 12/09/2021 17:49

My hair is fine and wavy, but lots of it. I don’t blow dry, leave overnight and straighten the next day. They do a good job, but don’t always straighten with one pass like they claim

PeppermintMocha · 12/09/2021 18:05

thank you - that's the sort of thing I had heard in the reviews, that they take more than one pass, and that they sometimes snag.

dyson is also offering a 35 day money back thing.

I have tons of hair, but still, more of it coming out is probably not terribly healthy.

Other reviews were more positive, and said that they were much wider plates, which meant fewer passes/faster, and that the fact that they used less heat meant less damage (but i'm not sure that they do use less heat really, as the temp seems the same at the highest level, which is probably the level that works, so unless it's a lot faster, it won't be less heat damage!)

I use mine on the medium setting which seems hot enough, but no occasionally have to go over sections.

I was tempted to try the airwrap, but the reviews have put me off. I had my hair curled with them in store. It looked great but they dropped out quickly

PeppermintMocha · 13/09/2021 13:28

I just didn't find the airwrap did much for my hair, which has plenty of curls if I air dry it, but goes frizzy if I blow dry it, whether with the hair dryer or the air wrap. Other people absolutely rave about the air wrap, so it seems very individual.

I did like it the first few times though. Should have realised sooner and returned it.

But that's partly my worry with the Corrale, that it'll seem ok to start with but I'll realise later that it isn't as good as I hoped. So I'd have to use it a lot in the first month to make a good decision within the return period.

I sent mine back. They snagged my hair something terrible and were very heavy and hard to manoeuvre.

Twinkie01 · 13/09/2021 14:37

Have you tried a leave in conditioner after washing your hair at night? I use living proof no frizz shampoo and conditioner and then their 5in one treatment and hair is really nice and frizz free the next day.

PeppermintMocha · 13/09/2021 15:01

I have, yes. All sorts of products. Some seem to help, some make it worse, some start off ok and then make it worse... hairdresser isn't even sure why it's got so big and frizzy lately.

Was it easy to send back and get the refund no questions?

I thought it would be better as it was bigger plates and less heat, as well as the cordless thing - but maybe there are some recommendations for others with bigger plates and/or less heat? I know there's a new ghd that is cordless too, but actually the cordless part is less of an issue for me; I just have so much hair that bigger plates sound faster (i have very little patience for hair-related tasks!), and the lower heat sounded like it'd cause less damage.

I have a Dyson hairdryer and GHD straighteners and it’s a great combo. I go from wet hair to dry, super shiny hair in 10 minutes. I have bra strap length thick hair.
