Talk to me about trousers!

My wardrobe never has enough bottom halves! I'm 5'8 size 10 on the bottom, curvy hips and thighs, but no saddlebags (horrible term!) Side or diagonal pockets stick out and gape, or make the trousers pull across the crotch area, I like wide legs but can't wear heels all the time. I've almost given up wearing trousers and jeans, but the recommended skirt shapes for my shape (a line basically!) run the risk of looking a bit prim if not styled correctly. What shapes/styles can I wear that are modern and don't give me a long flat arse, awkward front pulling/gaping, and don't make me look like a skittle? Thanks!

Bumping for you.
I’d just like to find some trousers that fit and are comfortable and smart.
I find a lot dig at the crotch, as if the “crotch to waist” part isn’t long enough or something. It’s annoying. Or the end up being loose below the waistband and scrunch up when sitting.

Thank you! Yes I often find they do up (or don't as the rise is too short) over the widest part and accentuate any muffin top or give baggy crotch when sitting as you say.

Not trousers but Wash denim & corduroy maxi skirts are fabulous as an alternative. I struggle with trousers too.

Thank you @MeredithGreyishblue. Actually recommendations of non trousers that aren't knee length a line skirts are really helpful too!

Game changer for me! Nice autumn slightly 70s vibe with boots or a tshirt & trainers.

They are lovely quality too. Was recommended to me on here.

Have you tried tall trousers? I'm not all that tall but they're proportioned better for me (miles too long in the leg sadly, but that's easily remedied).

Another good shout @crispinglovershighkick.

I see a lot of the shapes discussed as being on trend and think they seem so unflattering for my shape that I must be missing something!

I don't know your budget, so apologies if these two suggestions are too ££££. I am the same shape as you and I have both and I love them. I find Toast trousers in general really well cut and flattering for a pear shape, but size down....

I have a pair of cropped Kin trousers and agree they're brilliantly cut

alphaechokiwi · 12/09/2021 09:20

The John Lewis trousers are ankle length on me, I'm 1m63cm (5'4)
