All the work big wigs will be there. But honestly, I was finding office wear a tricky road before covid and now we've WFH for a year I'm even more unsure.
I can't even wear what I used to wear as it all appears to have shrunk in the wash.....

That happened to my old work clothes too, must be something in the washing powder

In all honesty I'm here for solidarity and answers too. I've got a new job and I have no clue what to wear into the office

Oh no that’s what I’m looking forward to the least, I hated my work wear, and 18months on, I hate it with a vegeance! I’d probably play it safe with shirt, slim trousers and brogues, and wait to see what everyone else turns up in, I’m sure they’ll all be feeling the same.

bodgersmash · 11/09/2021 22:53

Nice shirt (Boden silk shirt maybe?), some office trousers and brogues?

bodgersmash · 11/09/2021 22:54

Alternatively, midi shirt dress with DMs or some brogues if your office is too formal for DMs...

Remember - no one really cares.

If in doubt, go very classic, very boring.

Without wanting to drip feed but I'm currently shaped like a sofa, (and used to rock the cigarette pants and tucked in shirt look) but not sure I can carry it off as a size 16.

PP is right. No one gives a damn what anyone else wears.

That said if it was me I’d give it large and wear something quite fabulous.

Porridgealert · 11/09/2021 23:48

😂😂😂 Mine too. Bloody washing machine.

I'm a size 16. Can't go wrong with nice quality trouser, black, grey or navy. Bigger sizes suit straight leg or sometimes a little flare to balance the top. As painful as it is, according to the fit, it's better to go up a size so they fall nicely from your hips and don't bunch at your groin or you have to keep plucking at a too tight waistband.
As we get bigger, we sometimes feel the heat more. So I'd look at layering the top with a short sleeve top and a cardie or jacket over the top. If you go for a jumper, try not for too fitted. Never good to outline the back bra bulge.
