How likely are allergic reactions to Botox/filler?

I know there is a fair bit of hate for botox/filler on mumsnet but anyone who has had either done, did you have a reaction?

I have some mild allergies and the (reputable) practitioner was reassuring in my consultation but it’s the only thing holding me back from going ahead.

I have dermographism, cholinergic and spontaneous urticaria- basically my body hates me and a few more autoimmune conditions
No issues at all with Botox. I was advised not to have filler but that's because I'm neutropenic

NotMyCat Thankyou that’s really reassuring.
I know I’ll likely be fine but a total over thinker

Very unlikely.

But you do need to go to a dr or dentist to have it done.
The trick is to use the right filler for what you want done and also inject it deeply enough.

I've had filler approx 3 times and the first time my cheeks were quite red and sore (I had minimal filler from a top cosmetic dr) but it settled after a week.

I used to have quite bad eczema so my skin is sensitive.

It's the only thing putting me off too! It's quite reassuring to hear peoples experiences.

Highly unlikely.
One documented case of allergy to Botox globally.

Filler is Hyaluronic acid. HA is found in the body naturally, so allergy would be very unusual.

You are more likely to be allergic to the cleaning fluid or lidocaine in the filler.

Phew thanks so much for the responses
Will get myself booked in and report back.
Only been procrastinating for last 10 years Grin

Botox - highly unlikely. I love my Botox and I'm also an atopic person with ezcema, urticaria and a bunch of allergies.

Can't speak to filler. However I've personally injected a lot of people with lidocaine and not come across an allergy to that yet.

No idea but I had botox for medical reasons (awful TMJ) so in the jaw and a few other spots around the hairline I believe. So painful, I bruised horribly and it swelled and remained reasonably uncomfortable (albeit not painful after a day or so) for ages. I did a couple of rounds then gave up and wouldn't do it again.

On the plus side i do imagine that isn't a common reaction to it.

Update. I went for it!
No side effects at all
Have to admit that the filler was a little uncomfortable going in but she reassured me every step of the way

Honestly have had no bruising just a little tender putting makeup on
Botox is starting to take effect, never looked in the mirror so much Grin
