Harem pants & boots?

WutheredOut · 11/09/2021 06:51

I’ve lived in my harem pants this summer but as it get colder I obviously can’t wear sandals with them.

They are black and made from quite heavy fabric so I plan to get as much wear out of them through autumn and winter but with what footwear?

I have seen a lot of chunky boots which look amazing but I need my footwear to be smarter for work

I was thinking a high heel lace up boot but I can’t find images online if this working and all my local shoe shops have nothing suitable.

Any suggestions?

Oh gosh no please dont do it (unless it's to appear in panto).

I have having warm feet so I'd just wear sandals/slip ons as long as I could.

Restinblue · 12/09/2021 11:14

No I don’t think granny boots go but you might get away with DM style.

@AnyFucker

😂 @AnyFucker I always look for your advice on threads and I get the feeling you are probably right most of the time….I suspect you will also be right this time…

The boots are nice. I can see them working with the harem pants

BringMeTea · 12/09/2021 13:43

Hmmm rah rah Rasputin-chic? No.

CaMePlaitPas · 12/09/2021 13:46

Oh blimey OP. Er, where to start?!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 12/09/2021 13:48

Hmmm I get strong Aladdin vibes off that combo

SalsaLove · 12/09/2021 13:50

I’m also getting strong Aladdin vibes. I understand wanting to be comfortable but there are other styles that are comfortable and, uh, nicer? Sorry OP.

AnyFucker · 12/09/2021 14:07

Trainers look fine with harems. What’s up with trainers ? It’s not snowing yet !

OnlySpam · 12/09/2021 14:18

Oh my god - I'm so sorry op but this has to be a joke?! Grin

I own loads of pairs of the Hush harems - I like them because they're more streamlined, I couldn't wear ones with all that fabric. This cuts down on the 'Stop! Hammer time!' type of vibe. I wear them with Birkenstock's in summer and Veja's in winter

There is absolutely no way you could wear the ones you have shown with those boots. Well you can of course ... you do you after all! But please reconsider

OnlySpam · 12/09/2021 14:19

And those boots are killing me. Did you buy them?! They're something I can imagine the women in Oliver Twist wearing as they serve jugs of ale in the tavern

CamdenLurker · 12/09/2021 17:45

I just want to add that most of the clothes on the Room Lytham website linked above are sold at my local market for much cheaper prices, I've seen the dungarees for £20 and Magic trousers for £15 along with most of the tops for a tenner.

I have no advice regarding boots and harem trousers though, I think I'd stick to trainers if you really want to wear them.

SmokyLittleBeefBath · 12/09/2021 17:52

What are "granny boots"??

RubySlippers123 · 12/09/2021 18:00

I'm just imagining you rocking up to the office now OP....

Definitely getting panto, widow twankie meets Aladdin vibes from those boots and pants combo. I know you are after heels but wouldn't they look nice and less clumpy with a short Chelsea boot?

Ah ha if only I didn’t live in the arse end of nowhere I’m sure I could find them at a market too!

These guys have a shop to rent / run with overheads and are pretty good at marketing so I’m happy to support them

I own a shop (not clothing obviously- we have established i have no style) and they get stuff out to me within 48 hours so Im happy

But I’ll agree that it’s looking like my shoe choice is utterly tasteless.

Damn it - outed!!!

Fortunately I don’t work in an office and I run my own business so I have no one to answer to if I rock up looking like a dick! (Whittington)

Please send pics of the finished outfit. Maybe pirate chic is the next big thing.

Mumsnut · 12/09/2021 20:03

Ahem. Socks-and-sandals are in this winter. Have you the nerve?

I could be a trendsetter…

…I will not be a trendsetter

Trainers could work. Or some sort of fugly chunky Mary Jane type shoe that are oddly coloured (I have seen these not owned them!) the granny boots you are considering will not work at all. Do you have DM’s, they might work. Depends how ‘dressed’ you have to be for your work environment.

mm47 · 12/09/2021 21:03

Puss in boots and Zorro are two of my style icons so I might might not be the most reliable opinion but could you try them with converse Chuck all star knee high boots or if that’s too weird the Chuck Taylor GR82 extra-high top?

I'm thinking more Rumpelstiltskin than pirate, especially with granny boots, but maybe it's all about the other accessories.

Might I suggest this hat? Grin
