I had my hair cut on Saturday and stylist did a fantastic job - hair looked divine on leaving the salon and for the rest of the day. Now whenever I do my hair myself it just won't go right and appears a bit "lumpy" where I have had layers put in. Hair is in a just below chin length bob with layers to add shape at the back mainly. I don't think I need straighteners but the hairdresser added some sort of straightening lotion to hair before drying which I think must have made a difference to my hair. I'm not sure however, that I want to spend £££s on Aveda stuff from them if there is something cheaper that will do the job just as well. So, what do you use please and would you recommend it? I don't usually put anything on my hair apart from shampoo and conditioner so this is all new to me.

bagpuss I hate to say this but I think aveda are def the best. They are expensive but last for ages (depending on how long your hair is of course) but mine is also chin length bob and a bottle of their shampoo lasts about 6 months. I find Aveda is the only ones that leave my hair looking nice next day so don't have to faff about washing and styling everyday. I even travel 10 miles to the only salon in my area that sells it! Also a stylist will be able to tell you which one works for you. I use one for curly hair tho my hair is NO Way curly but it works wonders

PS also you could "cheat" and just get their styling lotion. I use phomollient (where do they get those names) and again it lasts for ages and I don't wake up looking like Wurzel Gummidge

Thanks . So, they really are the best? Looks like I will be headed back to the hairdresser then. It was something called Hang Straight that she used which is £15 a bottle but I suppose it will be money well spent if it does what it did when I had my hair cut.

well I think of it like buying expensive clothes that you wear once every so often, but your hair is on view every day! And honestly they do last for ages.
