Nice clothes for Men??

Help wise MNers. DP is 40, tall, lanky and dresses almost exclusively in surf / skate type brands, so pretty casual.

He's got one suit & 2 nice shirts but other than that it's slim cut jeans / chinos / T-shirts with surf brand logos / jumpers.

I don't mind what he wears as long as he's happy and comfy, but his style leads to him fussing a bit when we're going out for dinner or drinks and I wear something he considers fancy (a dress), that he looks scruffy in comparison.

He asks me for advice but I've absolutely no idea what Men of this age are wearing these days, or where to look even? His friends are all either even more casual than him or very preppy smart (think v-neck jumpers over formal shirts) which is definitely not DP.

Could try just something a bit cleaner looking whilst still casual by not having visible branding

Something like Sunspel, Mads Norgaard, Crew Clothing to start with?

Barbour?

My husband has some nice shirts from Zara and Uniqlo - not too formal looking.

DH has some lovely smart-casual clothes from Finisterre, Fat Face, Musto and Uniqlo. As long as clothes aren't ripped or aggressively logoed I don't see why he can't keep wearing his preferred surf brands, just steering clear of hoodies, cargo shorts and logo t-shirts.

Some polo shirts or short shirts in summer. Long shirts for winter. Hugo Boss, Rallh Lauren maybe for smart occasions.

My husbands "going out" look is usually dark blue straight jeans with white pumps or dress shoes, and a polo shirt or untucked, fitted, patterned shirt. sometimes a blazer or light bomber style jacket weather/occasion dependant.
He is by nature a casual dresser, unless it's being fully suited up which he weirdly loves, I basically just started bulk ordering things online, a mixture of what I liked and what I thought he would. Through trial and error over time we've found a smart/casual look that he is happy with.

He sounds hot.

Thank you Smile

I don't want him to think I have any issue with his current choices (I don't, I just want him to feel a bit more comfortable with smarter occasions) so I'll put those in my armoury to drop into discussion next time he's browsing for clothes.

I like Timberland for non fussy but smart casual clothes. DH has also got a few nice casual cotton shirts from H&M and rolls the sleeves.
