Where should I go for a make up lesson?

I started a new job today after spending most of the last 18 months in “active wear” with my hair scraped back and no make up.
Suddenly, I’m expected to look quite smart.
I can manage the clothes (although many seem to have shrunk a bit!) but my old make up routine could really do with an overhaul.
I don’t know where to start, so thought a make up lesson might be a good idea.
I’m 46 and quite tall. I don’t want to look like a drag queen and cannot be arsed with contouring and blending for ages. I just want to look a bit more awake and sort of “done”. Any advice, you wise ladies?

Are you near any beauty counters that are open and staffed?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/09/2021 21:02

I'd go to a No7 counter, get colour matched and just buy a tinted moisturiser or light foundation ,mascara and lippy. See how you get on with that and then you can upgrade once you're in the swing of things. Congratulations on your new job Smile

Honestly I’d save your money and watch YouTube videos.

I used to teach makeup myself and it’s honestly nothing that you couldn’t learn for free online.

Start with searching for something like ‘office makeup routine’ or something similar, ‘everyday makeup routine’ ‘natural makeup routine’. (Sorry if that sounds really patronising I don’t mean it to be 🤣🤣 I know you’ve probably already searched for said videos just thought I’d mention in case you hadn’t)

Bobbi Brown but unless you have deep pockets and don't mind spending a bit they will probably make you want to buy everything they use (not through pressure sales just through being good!) Which is why I no longer go for their in store makeovers, too tempting!

Def Bobbi Brown.

I don't go mad but my daily routine is touche eclat foundation because it isn't heavy and cakey, sweep of light blusher on cheeks and nose, light brown eyeshadow not overdone, eyeliner, top lid only with an eyeliner pen, mascara and lipstick.
it doesn't have to be an arduous task.
Then you put your mask on and it's all a hot mess.
I'm 60 and would look recently deceased without my morning makeup routine.

Thank you so much for your help, S& B Lovelies! I've just been to Bobbi Brown and had a wonderful makeover - sure it's taken 5 years off me but also lots of £££!
