Have wanted to have this done for years and looks like it is finally going to happen. Is Colour Me Beautiful the best place to go or does anyone know of anywhere else? I just wondered whether there is anywhere less expensive! I noticed there is somewhere on lastminute.com but not sure if that is through CMB or not? Am in North London/Herts ... can anyone recommend someone? Thank you!

i am in east london and went to [http://www.houseofcolour.co.uk/consultants/morag_young.htm morag]]

i think there is someone near you, but who wants to have that sort of consultation on own dullsville doorstep? i went with my sister, it is good to go with somebody else, reinforces it all and is lots of fun.

bugger here lots of em

bodiddly · 02/12/2007 21:58

do you remember how much it was fishie? if you dont mind me asking, that is!

Ooh freaky!! I'm glad you asked this. During the last week I've been searching old threads on this (colour analysis) and have sent an email (in the last half hour!) to enquire. I emailed a House of Colour consultant but would be interested to know if CMB is better.

I'm in Scotland - does that make a difference? I guess different consultants could be slightly different but am assuming that the training is the same so same results?

bodiddly · 02/12/2007 22:00

do they do one on one .. it looks like they do it in groups of people?

OP posts:
tartanandtired · 02/12/2007 22:01

Sorry to crash the thread but can I ask a question...

fishie - do you think it would be ok to go on your own? Only the HofC one is £90 and, much as I'd love to go with my sis or a friend, don't think anyone could justify the cost. I've spend a long time justifying it to myself....

bodiddly · 02/12/2007 22:01

weird tartanandtired ... ive keep thinking about doing it but have decided to do it before I buy any more clothes .. especially in the post christmas sales.

bodiddly · 02/12/2007 22:02

that was what I was trying to work out .. I think the colour me beautiful is one to one but doesnt look like the house of colour one is

Ditto bodiddly - I'm at that stage that I can't be bothered buying 10 cheaper tops that don't suit me. I'd rather buy one that suited me.

coggy · 02/12/2007 22:04

Colour me Beautiful is the orignal (and probably the best trained IMO)!
Been around for over 21 years and do one-to-one consultations or groups.

If you go on the website www.cmb.co.uk there is a directory of consultants in your area and they'll let you know prices and sessions.

Not everyone charges the same as it says on the webpage so don't get put off by any prices...many consultants do lots of other variations on sessions too.

Have fun!

bodiddly · 02/12/2007 22:05

shame you aren't down here .. we could've made up numbers together

OP posts:
bodiddly · 02/12/2007 22:05

thanks coggy will contact a couple of the consultants in my area then to see what they quote

OP posts:
fishie · 02/12/2007 22:09

yes of course on own is great, it is usually thus. it was £80 each.

we were happy to go together but truthfully it would have been pretty horrid with somebody not very close as there is a lot of concentration on one person at a time. it is fascinating to see though, rather than just experiencing it.

they put a white cloth on you and try other colours against your face. there are other things to buy, makeup and scarves, but they don't mind if you don't. well morag didn't.

she said a lot of women have it done to mark a change in their lives. we did it because it sounded fun and we needed more direction in clothes buying. it is very confidence boosting.

bodiddly · 02/12/2007 22:11

thanks everyone - will have a look at both web sites and see who is in the area

I got a response from the HofC woman saying that she has groups of between 2 and 6 people per session. It doesn't bother me to go alone but I just wondered if it would be strange if say the other 2 or 3 people there were sisters or close friends. Would I feel stupid and/or sad?

It sounds great. Just what I need. A confidence boost after having DS.

LaCerbiatta · 03/12/2007 11:25

I had it done with a cmb consultant and payed £65 on last minute.com. Was very happy with it. I believe cmb have a more up to date analysis, because they don't do seasons anymore, they have 6 different groups with subgroups. I could be wrong, though!

Threadworm · 03/12/2007 11:32

"Getting your colours done" -- I thought this was invented by Bridget Jones mum.

Didn't realise it was a real service.

Oblomov · 03/12/2007 11:50

I went onto the cmb webiste. Phoned the lady and negotiated. I think I paid £80 or £90 , but I got colour and a shortened version of style and a shortened version of make up, all in one session.
It was FAB.

Oblomov · 03/12/2007 11:53

God, you would never feel stupid. It is a really nice service. Not ... trinny. oh aren't you stupid for doing it wrong ...
We talked. Then she lays the swatched across your shoulders and she would say to me...
this one swamps you, but this very similar colour lifts you, can you see this. and I would say, eerrr no.
And then she did it again and again and I got it.
it was a total eyeopener. I felt like I had had a days pamapering, totally me, me ,me, but I was only there a couple of hours.
It was a total buzz. I drove home on a total high.

tartanandtired · 03/12/2007 21:07

Cheers Oblomov - I think I'm going to go for this. Going to try HofC since it's closer to me and I hope it's worth the cash!
