Short torso

I think I've just had a lightbulb moment and realised I have a short torso and longish legs. Without realising I think I dress in some ways as I'm supposed to for a short torso - v neck T-shirt's, a dress above the knee but what else should I be doing to dress for my short torso?!

Don’t tuck yourself tops into high waisted trousers would be the big one. Slightly lower waisted will be your friend.

This is my issue too. And my weight sticks around my waist as well

Deep v necks which you mentioned already, dressing tonally.
Loose trousers to balance the relative width on top a short torso entails. Wide leg jeans are your friend here.
Blazers and jackets that finish no higher than mid thigh.
No high waists or belts.
No voluminous shoulders on blouses or t shirts.
Keep the top half of your outfit simple and embellish the bottom half.
Drop waisted dresses are your friend.
Toos should skim your hip bones.
Minimiser bras if you have a decent bust.
Stay away from high necks/,turtle necks etc.

Tops not toos

Oh and show those legs, they are an asset.

So mini skirts and shorts and skinnier are ok paired with longer tops and shirts.

You can do a French tuck if you are wearing trousers which sit at your hips.

I have the same problem, and understand that dressing is really difficult, but getting your proportions right also depends on the rest of your figure. Are you tall and willowy/short with big boobs/curvy/straight up and down? I have the same problem, plus I’ve got really narrow shoulders and I’m only 5ft tall. My rib cage is my widest part of my body. (Tbh, I’m small enough that I can get tops and dresses in the teen section, but have no great admiration for BTS.)
In my case, I to avoid empire line anything, as it stops at the widest part of my body amd makes me look truly bizarre. Billowy, boho dresses and tops (which I adore) are the least-flattering items you could possibly dress me in, as I look like a head atop a ship’s mast with a spinnaker in full sail. If you are tall and willowy, you’d probably look amazing.
Enhance your true waistline with slim belts (if you must wear one at all) or tops that are more fitted around that area. Learn creative ways to tuck your shirts in. Some are more flattering than others.

I find wrap tops and dresses help in a similar way to deep v neck tees

I agree with Justilou, it also depends on your overall body shape - embellishing the bottom half would be a terrible idea for me, for example, while high necked tops are flattering. Generally though, stuff that draws the eye down rather than chops you in two is more flattering.

I find the most important thing is tailoring or buying petite tops and jackets. I am also loving the cropped trend as finally I can buy tanks and T-shirt’s that are the perfect length rather than ending at my knees.
