Levi’s Ribcage Jeans

I fell in love unexpectedly yesterday. I tried on a pair of Levi’s ribcage jeans and took my own breath away I’m a skinny jeans wearer and occasionally wear some mom jeans I got from new look. Usually I get the Topshop skinny’s. I’m a size 10 but have a “pouch” lower stomach and I just felt fab in these rib cage jeans.

I have commitment issues so didn’t purchase but they’re going on my birthday/Christmas list. Anyway, does anyone know if I could find similar jeans cheaper? I saw some on Zara but wanted to feel out mumsnet before I purchased.

Are they what me and DP would refer to as Simon Cowells that do up under your chin?

Just gooogled and they look great on the 6 foot tall model. Not sure how they would look on a shorter person

I tried these on - I found them so uncomfortable as the denim was like cardboard! It might depend on the wash though as I’ve found differences between the materials in the same style and different colours. They looked great but I just couldn’t wear them as they felt horrible

Anyway, in answer to your question - check out eBay and similar sites. They have lots of Levi’s ribcage and you can probably get new with tags for half the price, especially as you’ve tried them on now and know your size.

@TuftyRusty I know what you mean about the denim! That would be an adjustment… been wearing Topshop jeans for years and whilst they’re not super soft they’re much softer than Levi’s. I’ll check eBay out too! Thank you ☺️

Thats all good then , buy them. They would look ridiculous on me because I'm fat, youre a size 10 so will be able to pull it off but my concern is that whilst youll extend your legs you'll lose your middle.

I like the legs but I'm so stupidly short waisted that it would look like I was wearing a strapless jumpsuit!

Maybe they’ll wear in and soften up! Someone else might come along that has them and can advise. Good luck finding them - jealous as I think they look great!

@TuftyRusty Me too- surprised how flattering they were!

@Ofnorman I’m the opposite- I’m not tall but have a very long body and shorter legs. I look fine in skinny’s but wouldn’t tuck in my top because I’m stomach conscious. Whereas with these I felt they were much more flattering. It was quite overwhelming being in Levi’s with their umpteen different styles after living in a skinny jeans bubble for such a long time

I have the Levi's high-loose-taper which is similar. I love them so much I now own them in pale blue, dark blue, and black. The denim does give and I find them very flattering (I'm 5ft 6 and a UK 10). I found the sizing varied with the colours, weirdly, so my blue pairs are a 28 waist, but the black are a 29 - with the light blue I could have gone to a 27.

I do find the very high waist gets a bit uncomfortable if I am sitting all day WFH.

What are rib cage jeans? Are they high waisted jeans like Per Uno does? I am 5 foot and I buy high waisted jeans.

I've been looking at them to OP I'm taller than you and high waisted suits me.

Are you anywhere near Bicester (it has decent train links) as they have a Levi's outlet shop, I'm going soon to buy the kids school shoes so will report back think they are usually about half price there.

@Anoisagusaris yes I almost passed out and the sizzling sight of myself, I wish I’d have taken a photo for you…. Of course I didn’t take my own breath away! It’s a bit of humour- scout round and you’ll find it all over mumsnet. I also didn’t “unexpectedly fall in love” would have been a shame for DH seeing as he was outside waiting for me.

@PearlyRising it’s stiffer than I’m used to. But they felt great quality.

@Sickoffamilydrama thank you! It was a retail place an hour or so from us where I saw them too.

I absolutely adore the ribcage jeans! Like you I was (still an) and avid skinny jeans wearer but tried the ribcage jeans on randomly and fell in love. I've found Abercrombie high waist wide legs are very similar but still fairly up there in price.

I got a pair of 501s recently and I did have a good shock as I’ve only ever been used to the stretchy jeans before but I persevered wearing them even just to knock about the house in and they’re a lot softer now. I haven’t washed them either the big scutter that I am .

The Levi’s outlet in Cannock did a 2 for £110 deal so I put in with a mate which made it much better value.
