Cool boots for country living

Hello, we are about to move to the countryside- proper rural farmhouse. Aside from wellies, what boots do people wear? I ‘d love something with a small heel, and waterproof that still looks nice!

I read this earlier and it's played on my mind. Came back and am pleased to see @dunkaccino say exactly what I wanted to.

Local country fair and local... You will be helpingGrin

I wear toggi for that kind of thing. Canyon I think but years old.

Be nice and eager to understand and you will fit in regardless.

@happylittlevegemites

I’m watching this thread, as am struggling to replace my much loved le Chameau Jamesons (the newer ones are a really different fit to my old ones).

I’d not thought of looking at F and F, mostly as I’m bombarded by their ads on Facebook. I wonder if their “explorer” is waterproof? @Askinvillarblues , I’d be glad of the discount code, please, in case I do decide to try them.

Sure! It’s fairfaxandfavor.mention-me.com/m/ol/oh9tp-b32d823161. It’s a Mention Me one so I get 10% discount too if you use it 😊. I don’t have explorers - they’ve been out of stock forever but I think they are waterproof. I do have a pair of the short version (Boudicas) which I love and prefer more than my fur-lined DMs. I’d still use ariats or (no longer available) Noble Outfitter wellies for really mucky stuff like doing the dog/horse but F&F for more everyday.

I thought Tesco had got a bit pricy! Grin

If you have narrow feet then Penelope Chilvers boots are good.

WhoppingBigBackside · 30/08/2021 12:36

Has anyone mentioned Rydale.

Thanks everyone, lots to look at and try, if only cool leather boots were cheaper I would buy them all!

Btw, I may be more of an indoor cat (and happily so) than a walking dogs through muddy fields type, but my family are all sheep or dairy farmers and I have no illusions about country living, smells, noise, etc! Where we are moving to, however, the local ladies at the country fair seem to wear cool leather kneeboots, leather/wax hats, tweed, Liz Hurley hair etc, whereas my family all wear ancient mismatched wellies, flat caps and great-uncle Peter's navy boilersuits. I am just after some nice gear the same style as the local ladies as it looks smart and also waterproof.

That makes sense OP - hope the move goes well (and that you have a nice log fire to snuggle up with the cat in front of!!)

We are rural and I’d say no to heels or suede. Mind you where I am it rains a lot too.

I love my explorers warm and waterproof only issue is the material at the heel has ripped (after 2 yrs) so can make them a little uncomfortable when walking now.
