Thinking ahead and my current pair of cheapies need replacing. My feet get really cold as does the rest of me🧐.
Thanks

My fur lined Doc Marten chelsea boots are the best and warmest winter boots I've ever owned! Super comfy and fully waterproof too so very practical.

ElspethFlashman · 29/08/2021 13:15

I buy Uggs, but the leather boots rather than the usual suspects.

There's usually a sale section on the website with some great shearling lined ankle boots etc.

Super warm and super comfy.

gunnersgold · 29/08/2021 13:16

I've just bought shoe thr bear boots which are lovely .. nothing beats my Ugg's though . They do normal shoes now but are often fur lined .. if you want a just warm then sorrel boots !

Seconding the DM Leonore boots. I suppose it depends what you want them for though, the DMs go with most outfits and I'd wear them for work/walking round a city but if you're more rural or wanting dog walking boots they might not be the best option, although they'd likely still work.

Not answering your question exactly but for me, sheepskin insoles and thermal leggings make a huge difference - especially if you want to wear slightly sleeker-looking boots.

Thanks everyone. I layer up, thermal leggings under trousers, sheepskin insoles. Last winter( I teach) we had to have the windows open at work, the heating is rubbish and then playground duties. I was just perms cold. Often had over 6 layers on- including 2 coats. I could barely move.
Having cold feet is the worst though.
I’ll check out the DMs and Sorrell. I don’t really care what I look like as long as I’m warm. No dog walking, just urban streets.

Do you wear base layers ? The sweaty Betty ones are a game changer for being cold !

Get wool socks…. Game changer.

Shoemethemoney · 29/08/2021 14:19

Thirding the DM Leonores. Wouldn’t be without mine

MissRainbowBrite · 29/08/2021 14:23

I've got a pair of Panama Jack lined boots which are fabulous. Not cheap but so warm and comfy, also great in the icy weather. They are fabulously made.
These are the ones I have www.panamajackshop.com/uk/en/new-in-woman-winter/singapur-b23

altforvarmt · 29/08/2021 14:27

Snow boots (I got a pair from Decathlon), plus 2 pairs of warm hiking socks, plus lambswool insoles. My feet were toasty warm, even while outside in the Arctic.

I bought these - www.decathlon.co.uk/p/women-s-warm-waterproof-hiking-shoes-sh520-x-warm-mid/_/R-p-135945?mc=8344574&c=BLACK

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 29/08/2021 14:33

Sorel are great.

BigButtons · 29/08/2021 15:56

@gunnersgold I have a number of base layers including a merino one. None of them really do it for me and I often end up wearing 2 at a time.
Thanks for the link- looks great. I live in fear of being cold. I wish I wasn’t one of ‘those’ people.

Thanks so much for all the ideas!
The decathlon look great. The Merrel are beyond my budget but look amazing.
The DMs look fab too.
I do have wool socks and usually wear two pairs of socks all winter.
I’ve heard a lot about sorrel. Aren’t the sizes a bit hit and miss though?

I just came to recommend Panama Jacks. I love them and almost look forward to winter just so I can wear them.

Sindy1965 · 29/08/2021 16:17

Sounds just what I'm after. I need a lot of arch support, anyone recommend anything? Thanks

Snoodleberry · 29/08/2021 16:18

Sorrel - absolutely amazing for standing in damp snow/on ice. Cannot be without them when working in the mountains in the winter.

CardiCorgi · 29/08/2021 16:21

I have these, also from Decathlon: www.decathlon.co.uk/p/tika-boots/_/R-p-4440
They are not to bulky to ride a bike in and have got me through two winters so far. I live in the south of Germany, so it can get quite cold here.
The dc have winter boots by Kamik which are even warmer but cost more.

Bluntness100 · 29/08/2021 16:21

I’ve these from super dry. They are much nicer in reality and are fleece lined and incredibly warm.

I have some fur lined Dr Marten biker boots which are very warm, but on the coldest days, a decent pair of thermal walking boots is what you need, with the proper insulation. Theyre not always the prettiest things, but theres always a few weeks in february and march where style goes out the window and I just need to keep warm. Uggs are fine but you cant wear them in the rain and snow, plus theyre silly money, but i got my walking boots from TKmaxx and theyve done me years
