Where do you shop? 🙈

I think it depends what your budget actually is. If you just want to halve Toast prices, but stay with natural fabrics at good quality I’ve found the occasional gems in Seasalt and Finisterre. Otherwise I haunt eBay.

AbstractExpressionist · 29/08/2021 13:06

Try Cos, Arket, White Company. Or as PP says eBay.

Givemethatknife · 29/08/2021 13:21

Seasalt, while generally mumsy, do have good jumpers and decent sale reductions

Otherwise, yep, eBay

Pinkcadillac · 29/08/2021 13:24

Celtic & Co has nice jumpers but still around the £100 mark

Thedogshow · 29/08/2021 18:59

I tend to save up & buy a Toast one. Because they last for years, esp the Fairisle type ones. I have one from 5 years ago that is still going strong and I wear almost every day in winter.

Whereas when I have bought cheaper alternatives they haven’t really been the same.

But the Toast ones are really expensive. Perhaps some of the Scottish knitwear companies? Or if you wait a little while until the winter things are in you can get lucky with unexpected places like River Island or some other high st brand.

John Lewis also sometimes have good knitwear in the sale. So do Cos. Toast knitwear really is lovely though.

Plümo also worth a shot. But also expensive.

Wbeezer · 29/08/2021 19:12

Unfortunately so few places do 100% natural fibres now, blends never seem to keep their shape and texture as well or last as long. I've never found anywhere as good as Toast but have had nice knitwear from Cos, the Saltwater sale and my latest favourite an oversized wool blend cardi from the mens sale rack in H&M.
I have also taken up knitting again in lockdown and knitted thisimages.app.goo.gl/Dwre3p1UyKQSHgJW8

Uniqlo is worth a try. Not Toast-like but they sell merino and cashmere.

covetingthepreciousthings · 29/08/2021 19:29

You could try charity shops if you have any good ones? You probably won't find toast, but might find some lovely natural fibre knits for a fraction of the cost. I've had some lovely knitwear from my local ones.

MazyontheDipper · 29/08/2021 19:54

Ebay would be my first port of call. I know that Seasalt is popular, but I have had knitwear from there which has become misshapen and bobbly after washing, despite following the washing instructions to the letter.

actiongirl1978 · 29/08/2021 19:57

J crew does amazing knitwear. I have several of their jumpers in wool or merino and they wash and wear very well indeed.

actiongirl1978 · 29/08/2021 19:58

Although I don't know toast prices so j crew might be the same level. They do huge reductions on certain days of the year though if you are in London.

leavesthataregreen · 29/08/2021 20:08

Look at Uniqlo. Lovely lambswool and cashmere blends, neutral colours, great cuts.

EdithWeston · 29/08/2021 20:11

Try www.woolovers.com/womens

MIL gets a lot from there, and quality of the pieces she has s very goid

LaurieFairyCake · 29/08/2021 20:15

Brora sale - amazing bargains

JaceLancs · 29/08/2021 20:25

eBay, charity shops, tkmaxx
Uniqlo, woolovers, outlet stores

MrsPear · 29/08/2021 21:11

Don’t discount men’s knitwear ranges either

fiorentina · 29/08/2021 21:27

Uniqlo. Jigsaw have good sales, Arket, Cos.

Yamaya · 30/08/2021 07:48

Oh some great suggestions, thank you. Will check out ebay, that's a great idea. I do like Uniqlo actually

Ohh that’s perfect @Wbeezer

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 30/08/2021 17:57

Same situation as you and I haunt eBay, depop and Vinted. Got a lovely dark purple and metallic Toast jumper off ebay for £30 two years ago and it's still going strong.

Wbeezer · 30/08/2021 18:22

@TuftyRusty i knitted it in that colour, if I'd been less rusty it would have knitted up quite quickly, there's a cardigan version i might do next.
