Large bust and can't find any clothes that fit & flatter

Im so frustrated with trying to find clothes that fit my chest - and don't make me look much larger than I am.

I've changed from 34d to 32gg after having babies. Before I could fit into most things from the high street. But now so many things either don't fit in boobs at all or they hang loose and look awful.

I've tried some bits from bravissimo but they seem to also have extra room at the hips? But I don't have any extra hip so they look very ill fitting on me. Plus I think they are discontinuing their clothing line .

I looked at the fuller busy range on asos but they are all crop tops.

Tried lots of regular high street shops and end up returning most as it just doesn't fit properly.

I just don't know where to else to look.

I'm so frustrated and fed up with it. I know clothes aren't the most important thing, but it's no fun having literally nothing to wear.

Not sure the point of this post other than to vent a little bit and maybe someone can relate.

Morning! I have had this problem in the past. Can I suggest finding someone who does alterations? It would never have occurred to me as I expected things to fit straight off the hanger, but turns out a friend of mine does it all the time. Total gamechanger!

TTCAbroad · 28/08/2021 08:05

For my work wardrobe I eventually bought some Brooks Brothers shirts in a size that fit my bust and had them tailored. I find loose fitting silk tops work quite well (button downs from Grana and t-shirts from Pure). T-shirts from Uniqlo.

Then just admitting defeat with regards to most other shirts. Ultimately my style changed to accommodate the largest part of my upper body (32H ).

Alternista · 28/08/2021 08:09

Sometimes I’ve had good success with tops with a few percent elastane from the Tall range in a shop- the extra give in the fabric and the extra length accommodates my FFs a bit better without being swampy everywhere else?

NotMyCat · 28/08/2021 10:22

Second the tall ranges
I've bought a really nice maxi from Dorothy Perkins that fits lovely

No suggestions, but just sharing your pain. The trouble I find is that getting bigger in the bust means going up sizes in clothes, but that means everything is too big in the back and shoulders. What you need are clothes sized for a 32" chest but with more room in the bust, rather than clothes sized for a 40" (or whatever it is) chest.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/08/2021 12:48

M and S do some ‘fuller bust ‘ stuff.

I’ve never bought it or worn it though

MimosaFields · 28/08/2021 12:57

I'm a 32FF, so I have a lot of clothes altered. It's not that expensive

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 28/08/2021 12:59

Pepperberry by bravissimo

They do regular sizes but you choose boob option

So curvy, very curvy and super curvy

So in dresses I would usually be in a 16 which is too big everywhere but my boobs or a size 14 with squashed boobs

Pepperberry im a 14 really curvy

halfgirlhalfturnip · 28/08/2021 13:04

Look up Fairliecurved on Instagram or google - Jayne addresses this exact issue - not an ad, just a recommendation!

Eve · 28/08/2021 13:07

Bombshell have their jersey tops at £29 in the sale and they are flattering to a big bust and super quality.

StrawberrySquirrelThief · 28/08/2021 13:08

Next have started doing a fuller bust range too.

pastabest · 28/08/2021 14:09

I have this problem too and in the end I invested in a sewing machine and got good at doing alterations myself. I'm a 12/14 but often need to get e.g. shirts in a size 18 to fit over my boobs and end up being swamped.

I progressed from that to making nearly all my own dresses and blouses as it was easier doing that than trying to alter stuff and every time I wear one of my own makes people ask if I've lost weight. I haven't, it just fits properly.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/08/2021 15:05

I've taken the same approach as @pastabest. I actually have the same issue on bottom and top half - very big hips/bum, disproportionately smaller waist, narrow back, big boobs, small shoulders. Very little fits properly off the peg so I alter and now just make my bloody own!

duckling3 · 29/08/2021 09:13

Thanks for the recommendations, I think alterations may be the way forward. I have a sewing machine but never tried alterations before, but sounds like the best way to be able to shop at more shops.

Will def have a nosy at some of the recommendations too, didn't realise next or 'm&s did fuller bust ranges. Sounds like it could be a winner

They are fantastic and you look so much slimmer. However, they have just emailed their customers to say that they are stopping making clothes as it is not commercially viable so stock up now.
GiveMeAUserName123 · 29/08/2021 09:19

How old is your youngest?

Not to be rude but are you carrying extra weight?

I was flat chested before kids, I went up to a D!!! I was happy at first, actually having boobs then I realised how hard it was to dress and I soon hated it, it was all so difficult. Now my youngest started school I’ve lost weight and down to b, very happy as I’m small but not flat chested like before.

If that’s not your problem and this is your permanent size then maybe getting some tops tailored is the answer to your problem.

BigWoollyJumpers · 29/08/2021 09:24

I know Fat Face is not a MN favourite but it is the only place I get find dresses that fit. They do lots of cotton/linen dresses with elasticated panels in the back or sides. I can wear their 10 or 12's with 32HH boobs.

White Co also used to do lots of jersey which was great, but they don't anymore and have now gone all big square shapes which are deeply unflattering.

Rjw84 · 29/08/2021 09:28

I've been this size all my adult life. On the (much) more expensive end, I often find that Hobbs, Jigsaw, and LK Bennett clothes still fit me well for work. Particularly dresses.

Oh arse!

I don’t shop their very often (virtually live in jeans and a t shirt) but i just bought a dress for a graduation and was very pleased with it

KihoBebiluPute · 29/08/2021 09:30

Have you tried Sea Salt?
Some of their tunics can be flattering on a curvy figure.

duckling3 · 29/08/2021 10:54

My little one is 1 so I'm hopeful there is still a chance things will change, but I'm not really carrying any extra weight. I did put in quite a lot while pregnant but now back to my pre baby weight except with a much bigger chest.

It's just quite irritating, I'm not massively one for keeping up with fashion trends, more a nice top and jeans kind of person. But it does seem like shapeless and cropped seems to be everywhere right now.

I have a couple of nice tops which I sized ip so might start there with seeing jf I can alter them to fit nicer.

I'm a 32H but a size 10/12. My body is an inverted triangle shape so it's hard to dress. I've given up on button front shirts as even if I try the 14 it still pulls on my bust. I agree with the previous poster about Fat Face, they seem to fit well. And I know it's not popular on here but I have managed to get shirt dresses from Shein that fit me across the bust with no pulling. I got a L which it says is 12-14. I filter the fabric to cotton or cotton blends. It's been a lifelong struggle. I live in v neck t shirts it seems.

Your're the same as me.

Have you noticed that v-neck t-shirts also don't exist anymore either? All round necked and square loose shaped - Ugh.

I want tight fitting, ribbed jersey, long in the bottom. Gap used to do loads, but again, no longer do.

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 29/08/2021 11:33

Like a pp said shein L dresses fit well as they are often elasticsted I'm a 32H and struggle with tops.

Some of their tops have been hit and miss though.

Have also resorted to new look maternity range as the tie backs on some of their tops and dresses means I can make them more fitted.
