Soolantra do you recommend?

I have what I would say is mild Rosacea on my face. However even though it is mild it still make me really self conscious and I'm thinking of trying Soolantra. £40 is a lot to spend on a tube of cream for me so just wanted to hear recommendations before I took the plunge. I have been to the doctors who were useless to be honest and I have tried all the exfoliating, moisturising and changes to diet etc. I'm sick of people saying I look hot or my face is red. I know it bloody is! So please if you have tried this would you recommend it and how long did it take to notice a difference?

Yes. It made a difference to me right away. My GP had never heard of it. I had recently been living in Spain where I had been prescribed it. I kept saying to the GP, 'I want this one because it works for me.' He kept saying, 'really?' and I kept saying, 'yes.' I now have it on repeat prescription. if you do buy it and it works for you, this might be a strategy for the future.

It's not so much for flushing though. I had a cream called Mirvaso for that which is a temporary (8hour) fix and very expensive (£50). It does work but I decided to live with my flushing.

AgnesNaismith · 25/08/2021 13:12

Yes it works - I told my GP about it 5 years or so ago when it was approved and now get it on prescription when necessary.

stopporridgestop · 25/08/2021 13:22

These are all very reassuring. Do you think it would be worth trying the GP again. I saw a nurse practitioner last time who basically just said noting we can do etc. But it does really affect my confidence. I'm so worried that people must think I'm an alcoholic with my skin being how it is. I hate it.

Yes, it is definitely worth going back to see your GP rather than the nurse. Soolantra makes such a positive difference to rosacea - it is really effective in my experience. Consultant dermatologist prescribed it initially for me but that was several years ago and now it is available directly on prescription from GPs. As pp said, you may need Mirvaso as well, which you can also get on NHS prescription. You really shouldn’t need to pay for the treatments privately.

tiredteacher100 · 25/08/2021 13:41

Yes, it's been fantastic for me! People have been commenting on how well my skin looks. I was originally prescribed it from a consultant dermatologist, but can now get from my doctor. One tube should last a couple of months, maybe up to 3 months. My skin improved within a couple of weeks, I had a small relapse for a week which apparently is quite common, but carried on using it and my skin is totally clear now. 20 years of trying different washes, creams etc and it cleared up in a few weeks

Thanks everyone. I am in my early 30s so don't want to risk leaving it untreated, I was just so disheartened after speaking with the nurse. I was going to bite the bullet and buy it today but after speaking with you all I will try and speak with the GP tomorrow first and see if they can prescribe it instead. I will let you know how I get on.

Yes, it’s really calmed my redness - just wish I’d foiling it before the thread veins kicked in. They’re not so noticeable though - I go out without foundation on these days but before Soolantea i would have routinely used concealer, foundation and powder. Another good tip in addition, apply a self tanning moisturiser - just Dove or similar to your face if it’s not too sensitive. That doesn’t change your face colour too much - just gives it a bit of a glow, but it blends the rosacea so it’s less obvious.

cozycat1 · 25/08/2021 18:45

Yes . I have am using the same ingredents via Dermatica. You upload pictures, say what is it you want to treat and they send you tube of their mix of what they think will best treat your concerns.Costs me £20 a month and you get a review every few months so send in pictures and say how you are getting on with it. Did this
as I haven't had much luck before. Got something that stung like hell and made it worse. Can defn see a difference now, much clearer although nose still bit red

Hi everyone, sorry to come back to the thread but I have a question for anyone who has used soolantra, does it make things worse before hopefully improving them? I would say since using it I have more spots and at the minute my face seems redder which is annoying but hoping it's part of the process. Thanks!

Yes it does, it can make you really itchy as all the mites die then it's clears up.

Just in case you don't know you can get it online from superdrug all you do is send a picture.

QueenJulian · 06/09/2021 22:35

A couple of IPL treatments (maybe 3) can really help with the flushing too. Finacea (azealic acid) is also really good for rosacea. You can use that in the morning and soolantra overnight if necessary.

stopporridgestop · 07/09/2021 11:32

Thanks both. I was feeling a bit disheartened after reading that people see improvements straight away and mine had been the opposite!

Lots of people find things initially get worse with Soolantra. In my case my skin got better for a week and then suddenly worse for two weeks. I had read on the internet that this happens so carried on regardless and my skin then cleared up on a permanent basis. So I think it does seem to be an expected reaction

TableSetting · 08/09/2021 06:03

Does Soolantra work best on rosacea spots or redness? Thanks

MerylSqueak · 08/09/2021 06:47

For me, the spots.

I didn't have a period when it got worse. It just got better
