City breaks shies

Has anyone got any suggestions on what to wear on my feet for a weekend in London? I don’t want to wear trainers as we are going to a couple of decent places for food and I don’t want to go back to the hotel to change my shoes. In September, it will be too warm for boots and I think ballet flats will be painful. I don’t like sandals. Any suggestions on something comfortable but smart to go day into night?

I have a pair of these, really comfortable, I'm wearing them when we go to Manchester later in the week.

What do you need the footwear to go with? Are you planning on wearing jeans/trousers/skirts?

What places are you going to eat - might be able to advise whether you can get away with trainers. London as whole is pretty casual and trainers would be fine in lots of bars/restaurants. But depends what type of place.

For a city break in September, unless it was a heatwave, I’d probably wear boots, jeans or trousers and tee with a jumper or jacket if it got cold.

With the best will in the world, I really don't think the above suggestion is suitable for fancy food places. You'd be better with smartish trainers like Veja V10s. What outfits are you planning on wearing? What about something like brogues or loafers?

Thanks Goose. They aren’t my style but I do appreciate you posting.

The sky garden has been booked.

I’ve been looking in my wardrobe. I’ve got grey biker jeans, a black top and either a black leather jacket or cotton type utility jacket. I could wear my silver high tops with that.

The other day we are going to the Wolesey. I’ve got a white blouse, denim jacket and navy wide leg trousers. This is what I am thinking needs something other than trainers but I do have plain white trainers and I suppose I could wear my high tops here too.

I’ve only been to the Wolseley for breakfast - it is lovely. There’s no dress code but it is quite grand so you may feel more comfortable dressing up a bit. I’d be tempted to just go back to the hotel and change but you could wear trainers during the day and take a different pair of shoes for dinner if you can’t change properly in between. Or smarter shoes - brogues or sandals depending on weather?
