Foundation options?

I don’t wear foundation other than on a night out, put it this way when I went to put some on for my 20th anniversary night out, mine had dried up because I bought it for my wedding and there was still half a bottle left.

I use concealer in the winter, when I’m not tanned, am going out next week and don’t see the point in buying a bottle.

I want to disguise my dark circles and summer skin, I also have shiny skin usually so maybe something to calm that down?

Can anyone suggest any options?

It’s expensive (competitively) but Estée Lauder double wear never fails. They have a ligh version as well if you don’t want full coverage.

Thank you, do they sell it in tiny bottles at all? I will probably only use it about twice in the next year, for this and I have a wedding (not mine), next year.

When trying to find a new foundation during lockdown I bought some Giorgio Armani sample sized tubs off eBay which might be a good idea? I think they were 5ml and I was able to work out roughly what shade I needed on the internet and the. ordered 3 different options to check which was the best match.

That’s a good idea, was also wondering, if I go and buy some pricey concealer from boots, do you think they’d Chuck in a sample foundation? I’ll use the concealer but definitely not the foundation

As someone who is t'other side of 40 I favour lighter formulations as they don't sit in my creases. Also I have tried and failed to get on with cheaper brands as they look flat and cakey on me. Current favourites are;

Nars sheer glow
Armani luminous silk
chantecaille future skin

If you get colour matched at an Estee lauder counter they will normally give you a decent sample bottle which lasted me two weeks of daily use.

So maybe go there? Could always try a concealer at the same time and then get the sample foundation to 'try at home'.

If you’ve got a John Lewis beauty hall near you, go and ask for a colour match and samples to use at home. They’ll keep you going a little while. Then if you really like one, you can go back and get the full size.
I often do this when I’m in the market for a new foundation, as it means I get to try a few out over the course of a few weeks.

I would try Trinny London. Look at the BFF destress serum. Really hydrating, light coverage. It’s like a makeup / skincare hybrid and feels really lovely

If you're only going to wear it a couple of times and get shiny easily, maybe opt for a powder foundation instead? I use the Maybelline Fit Me powder and it's great at giving an even finish and also reduces my shine.

Clinique does a 10 day free sample. You sign up with an email address and they email a voucher which can be used in participating stores.
